I love learning Spanish but this woman made me absolutely dread coming to class. She used up all the class time to push her political beliefs on students which I hate even if I do share her beliefs. I learned nothing from her and had to take a W. Avoid taking her if you actually want to learn and not just talk about her agenda all day.

I enjoyed her class. She kept things interesting and made coming to class fun. I worked my butt off in this class-not because I had to, but because I wanted to learn the material and Maria doesn't teach much structure. She's adorable and I'd gladly take another class with her. However, I don't mind doing a lot of self-teaching.

She clearly seems to favor some people and she will show you whether she likes you or not through her attitude. She has tried to push some of her beliefs toward her students. She doesn't make an effort to make the class interesting at all. All her work is repetitive. She's also unorganized. I used to be so enthusiastic about Spanish...

I love Maria! She goes out of her way to accommodate her students, although she is a little unorganized. Extremely lenient with late or missing work. There is a lot of busy work in class, but this helps on the midterms and finals. It was so nice to actually have a teacher that seemed to care about individual students' progress!

I thought that Professor Morris was pretty good. I had the class at 8 am and still managed to enjoy it, most of the time. The reader is the class Bible; forgetting to check it will definitely effect your grade. Overall, enthusiastic and enjoyable.

I had this class at 8am and was always excited for it. She is very charismatic which makes her easier to understand even if you don't know the spanish words, and makes the class more fun. She does take things personally, however...

she's a horrible professor. i went to her for help and she laughed and mocked me when i didn't know the rule for using certain verbs, which discouraged me from going ever since. she also accused me of cheating on my final draft of my composition because there weren't a lot of errors, saying that when students fix them, they end up with more errors.

I love maria! She is one of the BEST teachers I have ever had at UCSC. She was very kind, inspiring and funny. She made me really want to learn spanish and I already feel as if I know so much. Her tests were somewhat hard and the oral exam was intimidating but she really knows how to teach!

She is not a native speaker. i dont like her accent much and it annoys me. i took this class during the summer every day we had a diagnostic. hella busy work that was pretty useless. felt like spanish 1 and 2. she was really repetitive and graded our essays like a freaking english paper. but then again i passed the class with out studying not once

She is intimidating at first. The workload is extremely intense; heavy readings and write-ups daily along with 2 or 3 weakly assignments and a weekly quiz. She is a fair grader, however, and very helpful. She will warm up after a bit, just attend class regularly and communicate with her a lot.

Maria has great passion for what she teaches. I felt that she spent too much time teaching some of the cultural and social issues in Latin America and not enough on grammar or language. She's also very unclear on work and assignments. Feel free to ask her questions. You'll be surprised be surprised what you learn in the end.

Maria wants us to learn, but she rushes through every aspect of the class. I think she believes we need to learn every little thing about every little thing in a single quarter, and the result is a mishmash of half-learned topics. Be sure to study things she only briefly mentions in class if you want a good grade. Not the worst, but not the best.

Prof. Morris is underrated because she is a very narrow-minded person. She has an obvious, extreme liberal bias. However, she's also a great teacher of Spanish. She might not not invite you to her office, but she answers questions in class, and you only realize later (perhaps months later) that you got everything you needed from her class.

Maria's teaching style is difficult to adapt to. She doesn't promote enough conversation and she isn't very clear in presenting the material. she has a reader that can be pretty helpful, but doesn't give out any worksheets to refer to. her most interesting aspects are her politics as she is very radical and supportive of organizing and activism.

She is completley unprepared for lecture everyday. She is very unclear and seems to not have a strong grasp for the language itself. She has to ask class at times what words are. How is she qualified to teach such a class?

Maria is a very supportive and caring teacher. She's not always clear, but that's why you are suppose to ask questions! Her lectures and homework are very relevant to her tests. If you go to class, pay attention and study on your own you will have no problem getting an A in her class, because that's what I got.
