I took her for my Senior Seminar, Writing and Healing. TONS of reading and tons of writing but hey, I was expecting that in a Senior Seminar. Her class definitely helped me to look at some things in my life that had been affecting me, and she gave great comments and was great to talk to. Threw us an end of semester dinner party at her house.

the class was called "writing and healing" in which we discussed the therapeutic qualities of writing, of which there are many. however, the class was completely uninteresting and midly engaging. She was obviously invested in the area and knowledgable about the subject, but the fact that she hasn't taught in a decade showed. very nice person though

Comment:

An excellent if quirky teacher. Can be her own worst enemy. Her opinions can sound dogmatic and patronizing but in fact she's very openminded and willing to listen if you hang in there and respond calmly, honestly and intelligently. She is much better if you are neither judgmental nor intimidated. REALLY knows her stuff!

Everyone I talked to in my class complained about her. Assigned a ton of reading, half of which she never covered in class. Her writing is nearly unintelligible. Resembles a treasure troll. Aside from all that, she's pretty nice and easy to talk to. If you work hard enough, you'll do well.

She is very inteligent and competent in her field. While she often overloads on unnecessary work (frequently readings aren't even discussed), you will definitely learn a lot in this class and your writing will improve. She can be difficult, but she is extremely fair and is always willing to help outside of class.

Ms. MacCurdy demanded a lot, but she was a really good teacher. I feel like my writing improved a lot because of her. Her topics are interesting, but she requires a lot of reading that doesn't ever get integrated into class. She's very fair though.

A nice person who enjoys teaching. Can be frustrating, as we deviate from the syllabus on occasion, which can mess up assignments. Some of the readings assigned we never went over! Very bad handwriting however. Takes concentration to read.
