Comment:
The material taught in the class itself was fairly interesting. My main problem with this professor is her harsh grading. I did not expect a geography class to require so much effort into getting AVERAGE grades. She never throws you a bone when you review the exam with her either and asks for very specific information when answering questions.

I love Marie! Super knowledgeable and helpful when you ask questions. Lectures are very interesting and easy to follow and also helpful when it comes to the essays on the tests. Only 3 non-cumulative tests which each have map, essay, and ID sections. Super interesting and not super hard at all, but definitely learned a lot!

Marie Price resurrects the justification for a broad survey course. I took "World Geography" from her in my junior year. She covers an amazing amount of material in a challenging yet accessible way. Do your reading, and if you are confused, just visit her in office hours. She's super accessible, as are all Geography professors. Would def take again

Favorite class this semester, it's pretty easy if you're interested in IA or geography and has no prereqs. You'll need to go to class to learn but lectures are really interesting and Price is awesome. You may/may not need to read depending on how much you get the lectures and subject. 3 simple projects not worth much and three pretty easy tests.

Price is a great lecturer, and the lectures follow a steady pattern because they're based on the textbook- which she wrote! You can definitely get away with not reading if you have a background in geography. Grade is based on 3 assignments and 3 tests. You can tell she's accomplished a lot in the field, and she has a really pleasant demeanor.

Incredibly well versed in all themes of geography and regions of the world,. She gives a few very simple and very clear assignments. The class was extremely interesting and you actually learn what should be common knowledge about geography and cultures around the world. She's amazing.

Price wrote the book for this class, so all of her lectures are directly from the text. Attendance isn't necessary to do well on the exams as long as you read the book.

The class was less challenging and substantial than I wanted.. Marie Price is a nice lady but what she taught in lectures seemed to be merely shallow trivia facts. The really useful stuff had to be memorized on our own. I also wish she talked less about the environment and more about culture. Was bored and dissatisfied most of the time.

I heard Dr Price was one of the best professors in the GEOG dept and she definitely is. She was an easier grader than I had heard going into the class and I got an A without doing too much work, despite still learning a ton. The class was great and I highly recommend it if you're looking for an easy class and/or looking to learn a lot.

The most friendly and helpful geography professor. A lot of class material with many details, but as long as you read the book, you will be fine with all the tests. The assignments are easy to deal with, they do not account for high percentage of the grade.

Excellent class, if GW had more professors like this, we would give the Ivy Leagues a run for their money! This is a must take class, she is an incredible professor, and you WILL know more about the world after taking this class! The lectures are straight forward as is the exams and the text is optional.

Great class and as mentioned earlier, it's taught very well. She somehow manages to touch on every important issue around the world and incorporates some class participation as well. Expensive textbook is only really used for the tests, and it's just for the important terms at the end of each chapter. Class is highly recommended.

Very interesting class, and she teaches it very well. Since it involves environmental issues, econ, politics, and culture, she has to touch on all of them and does a great job. It is information that is great to know in the future. If you're interested in the topic at all you will love both her and the class.

professor price is brilliant!! she keeps her lectures interesting and is a vibrant lecturer and will keep you interested. as for the classwork itself, it's not too heavy considering it's a 100 level course. there isn't too much reading to do, her exams are reasonable, and there are various papers/assignments through the semester.

Although the lectures and textbook are interesting as general knowledge, it is difficult to filter out what you actually need to know for the tests. Do NOT rely on the lecture - she keeps referring above all to environmental issues and doesn't stay organized. Consequently, your notes may come out disorganized.

Professor Price's class has now made me a geography major. She's very interesting and has a lot of experience in the field. Doing well is just a question of memorizing maps and either going to class or reading the textbook. There were three exams, three assignments (not long), and one extra credit assignment. I would highly recommend this class

Marie Price is not a particularly good professor. Her lectures tend to be very preachy and agenda driven - while she often does not offer scientific data to back up her claims. She tends to focus on matters that are important to her and does not give much time to other material in the course.
