Buddy is passionate about Women's roles in history! He knows a lot, and specializes in Germany--as it had it's own unique role in history. I found his lectures to be interesting, but as he loses his train of thought sometimes a lot of people stopped listening Classes are discussion-based, and there are 2 papers, 7 online quizzes, and 3 essay tests

He is a very tough grader and pretty vague in his guidelines. Whenever it seems like you answer the prompt to the point, his comments and grade reflect that you did not. At least one paper every week, normally around 300 words based on the chapter for that week.

Comment:
Professor Gray is passionate about his area of study and this shows in his class. He genuinely wants students to do well and does his very best to make sure student's needs are met. Be prepared to write and attend classes regularly. I found that this was a great first class of the day because of his sense of humor and happy attitude.

I only did well in the class because I read the book, which interested me the most. Lectures are boring, attendance is mandatory, and if you get up and leave early or are on your phone he'll yell at you in class or run up to you and embarrass you. Also, exams are terrible. I would not recommend taking his class.

A lot of reading and busy work but you will learn a lot from him. He is very passionate about his work. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS!! He's a great guy aside from being your professor and he will answer any questions you have, regardless of the subject. One of the best professors at western. If you get a chance to take a class with him, do it!

If you are just taking this class to get a general ed credit out of the way, strongly advise you take something else. Treats the class as if it's full of history majors which most people aren't. Obsessed with Germany and only focuses on women in German European history. VERY inconsistent grader and never makes it clear what he wants from students.

Very interesting class. He is very caring about his students. The class is very easy to fall behind in if you don't do the reading. But it is fairly interesting.

Marion (Buddy) is a nice guy but I really hated this class. There is a ton of reading that you need to do. Classes were set up with group discussions and I'm not fond of discussions. Tests are essays and you write two out of class papers. He seemed like a picky grader.

Buddy Gray is a great teacher... i highly suggest taking this course. He really gets everyone involved, and is very willing to help his students. He actually cares about his students progress in the class, and doesnt want anyone to get left behind. The readings are not that long, and fairly easy to read. Material is very interesting, actually.
