Comment:
mark is great at teaching logic, and those who criticize his teaching style are simply ad hominem. if your brain is not wired to understand logic, and thus you refuse to try, naturally any style of teaching will probably falter. however, mark is an amazing professor to those who are willing and open to learning.

Logic is a really hard topic to understand. I felt that Bedeau didn't go slow enough or provide enough examples to help me. I don't want to take more philosophy as much now.

Mark did a great job teaching logic. The course itself is not very dense, so it was not work heavy. The concepts are easy to pick up. Mark is passionate about logic which is really nice, and motivates me to feel the same way. Sometimes, he gets wrapped up in his own stream of consciousness, but it's no big deal. He is friendly and really kind.

Philosophers don't get famous for no reason. Mark encourages original thought by students, does his best to explain everything in a variety of ways, but still doesn't countenance air-blowing. He's brilliant, friendly, appreciates students' jokes, and will stay and help you sort out your confusion for hours after class. A gem.

Mark is apart of a group in Italy that is trying to recreate life with the sole use of inorganic chemicals. bomb. i have him for logicand its decent. it doesnt help that logic is kinda boring in and of itself. really chill dude. i come to class between 5-20 minutes late every day and he took one of my tests late without deducting points. smart/nice

Comment:
I enjoyed Mark immensely for intro phil. He is very good at explaining things in a non-pretentious way, which is good for a science major. A lot of philosophy is complicated by unnecessarily complex terminology. I am honestly surprised to hear people say he can be mean; I always saw him as unflappably amiable.

He compared himself to Galileo, and he is no Galileo. Sorry Mark, you're ideas and teachings are not changing the world!

Mark has been getting a bad rap because he is not supportive to students' egos; he thinks and directs his conversation towards the ideas mentioned in class. He is knowledgeable and sometimes awe inspiring with enthusiasm about specific subject matters in phil. He has a small tendency to ramble, but if you are interested in phil, he is your man.

below average prof especially by Reed's standards. Has little to offer non-phil majors. Saw him mistreat other students.
