This professor does not pay attention to the way other English professors teaches us to write. He is wanting to invent a new way to write a paper that is unclear from paper to paper along with his grading scale that changes from paper to paper. He says that he does not care about content when he really does and grades based off of that.

Tough class but great lectures. I was very unsure going in, and wished I made a better effort at it in the end. Be sure to read the material, and look up/research everything he shares. Keeping up with current events would help to. Class participation is a must! Great professor! Will learn a lot. You will leave the class thinking different each day

Bernier is one of the nicest humans ever. He will teach a lot if you just listen. Understanding his way of talking helps a lot. Learn ur alphabet by numbers and listen!!!!! Do the work and it wont be bad. Go to him when you need help and he will do what he can. He is a natural meant-to-be teacher.

Bernier is by far one of the most interesting professors I've ever had. He is extremely caring and will work with you with whatever your situation is. He seems strange at first, but once you start learning how to decode him, he grows on you. He is a tough grader and hard to impress, so make sure to participate in class and READ THE ASSIGNMENTS!!

If you're not good at liberal arts classes, reading is dire, and use the writing center for papers. Be absolutely SURE to interact in class - your grade depends on it, but it's easy. His office is nearly always open, tests are not particularly hard if you've read the material, and he grades fairly.

I've never had a professor better than him. He is engaging and thought provoking. He is the first professor that ever made me feel that my thoughts mattered. The class was very interesting and inspirational. Attend with an open mind. I took it in the short session so it was fast paced but I wish I had taken it in fall because I enjoyed it so much.

Best teacher I have ever had. He makes learning fun and if you participate, then you are automatically on his good side. Do your reading and listen to what he says. Take notes! If you have questions, then don't be afraid to ask! He truly want to help you and see you succeed :) he's "brilliant"

For an "introduction" class it sure was confusing. I feel Bernier thinks we already know about philosophy. He is hard to pay attention to because he reads out of the book the entire class. Most of us had no idea what was even going on in class. I would not recommend him for philosophy if you want an easy philosophy class.

I have taken Bernier for ENGL 1301, PHIL 1301, and PHIL 2306, and I can say he is a very active teacher and will use real world issues to help facilitate his curriculum. He is not an easy teacher if you do not pay attention in class, and he gives essays and word banks form tests and quizzes along with a 2 page biweekly essay. You will write a lot.

Professor Bernier is a super nice guy and will go out of his way to help you. If you are a poor writer do not take this class. Most of the assignments in this class are essays and they will not be graded easily. If you like an interactive class environment and you will do the work that is assigned than you can do well in this class.

Scribbles all over the paper. Looks at MLA more than content of the paper. Not consistent either when grading.

Intelligent, respectable, witty , and kind are a few words to describe the best instructor I've ever had. Mr. Bernier likes open conversations and many times will ask for personal opinions from his students. He even rekindled my love of writing , something I haven't done or put effort into in years. If you have the opportunity Take this class.

In complete honesty, Mr. Bernier gave me the finest educational experience I've ever had. Beyond High School AP classes, and a number of classes as an unfocused college vagrant, wandering from school to school, Mr. Bernier affected my perceptions of myself and the world far more than any other instructor. I owe him a huge debt.

He is an off the wall teacher. He is a character. He is passionate. He gets off topic often. However, he explains everything. If you take the time out to go to his office and talk to him about something you may not understand, he will help you out. Participate in his class because that will effect how he grades your essays.

Makes sure to participate in class. He gets frustrated when no one is talking. Brush up on your reading skills. Having a good vocabulary helps in this class. Make sure you turn in all of your assignments. He is not a difficult teacher, but he does require some critical thinking.
