I've had Dr. Flarherty for most of my theory at NMU. With Elda Tate, I failed once and barely passed the next time. But in Theory 3, I had no troubles what-so-ever. He's really an enthusiastic and nice guy who genuinely wants to see you succeed! Attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll regret it if you don't show up!

Dr. Flaherty is a great guy, and a great teacher. I found his lectures very clear and helpful, and even if you don't understand the material in class, he's very willing to help you one-on-one. He truly wants every student to succeed, and you can tell. He doesn't grade on attendance, but lectures are necessary to pass the class.

Dr. Flaherty is extremely intelligent and talented. He's also one heck of a nice guy. His class was really fun - he was always cracking geeky music jokes. He's really helpful and obviously enjoys what he's doing. Definitely take him!

Really fun class. He knows his stuff, and is enthusiastic about it. Do your homework, and Theory I is a breeze. Also, go in and visit at office hours, he's all too glad but to help you out and go through examples 1 on 1.

Probably the nicest and most easy-going guy on the planet. Excellent at lecturing clearly and at times entertaining. The class is incredibly straightforward. You would have to a complete moron to get less than a C.

Comment:

One of the nicest guys I know, which is his biggest problem. Too nice to control his class, which leads to a lack of productivity. His ensembles could all be great, but he is too timid to command any respect from his students. They come to class unprepared, and he lets them get away with it.
