I never thought of myself as a Microbiology person until Dr. Gallo. Yes class is difficult but its worth it and he sincerely wants you to learn and be able to use that knowledge! He makes it more exciting.

Dr. Gallo is truly a gem. None of his lectures are even a tad bit boring. Just pay attention to what he says, read the book and youll be fine.

I've had Gallo once a semester since freshman year (senior now) and yes there are difficulties about him. His exams are hard + lectures are hard to follow but if Gallo knows you're trying? He's gonna give you a good grade. DON'T buy the textbook (it's useless), be diligent in class and ask a ton of questions. He'll teach you what you need to know.

Comment:

Read before each class because the lecture consists of discussing the material and looking at figures real world examples. He is a funny guy with much insight. His tests require applying the information you have learned and are difficult, but he encourages emailing him questions to put on the tests. Learned more in this class than most other.

Comment:

Microbiology will always be difficult, but Gallo teaches you the information that is most applicable to you and to society as a whole. Take notes on his lectures- he puts all the info you need to know into context and stories. I used to supplement his lectures with free online chapter summaries from the book. An A is possible if make the effort!

Dr. Gallo is a funny guy, whom loves bacteria. His lectures are somewhat understandable but for the most part uninterpretable by most. His tests are rather extremely difficult compared to how he makes it seem in class. Studying will barely help you. Become his friend and it will pay off.

He's a funny guy. He likes minions, and telling stories,especially about his lamas. His class is impossible. Had him for a 3 1/2 lecture every week and wanted to repeatedly jump of a bridge. Quiz's are hard and Tests are even worse. Good Luck . At least he curves his grades. His lectures consist of looking a pictures that make no sense.

Great Guy! Goes on tangents but is very knowledgable. Learned more from him in one class than I did in four years at this school. He knows what he's talking about and teaches you life lessons so you are ready to work in a real lab setting or real research setting.

Worst class I have ever taken! You basically have to teach yourself everything. He is not organized...yeah great guy,bad teaching methods!! Tests are crazy.You have to know everything about the ALL the chapters the test will be on or prepare for failure!! AWFUL! used his mac and a smartboard and just pulled figures from the text onto the screen and proceeded to talk about nonsense for 55 minutes. don't bother going to class because he just tests on random sections of the reading... worst class yet.

Class was extremely interesting. Tests cover everything but you can kind of bs your way through some questions. Best professor in the department by far.
