Authoritarian style teaching. Can't use the restroom and if you do, will call you out in front of the entire class, and go on about it wasting class time. Unable to deviate from his own mind and consider other ideas from students. Nobody wanted to raise their hand as their answers didn't ever seem good enough. Disappointing for a learning space.

Easy A. Attendance is important and pay attention to what he says. Notes notes notes. Scantron test after his portion of the class. He is very creative and gets you involved even if the room is large. Very enjoyable professor.

i was actually excited about this class cause i enjoy theater but the teach makes it unbearable he says he wants college level papers when he himself has grammer mistakes late on grading very vague with his "expectations" dont take his class

I found him very very unhelpful and his teaching method not in favor of students because he would just lecture, show video clips in class, and rant about irrelevant things that were not on the test. He primarily uses the blog and you have to keep track of it or else you lose the chance in gaining any points for the test. Make sure you attend class.

Take this class! It fulfills one of the IGETC criteria and its super easy. You don't even go to class. All you do is go to a play every week and write about.You only go to class like 3 times: the first day of class and 2 discussions. And the writing criteria is really general. Just don't summarize the play and write 2 pages. It was really fun

This guy is just an annoying liberal, who isn't very helpful at all. Make sure if he tells you to re-do your final paper, YOU DO IT, because you'll get a bad grade if you're not doing well in the other parts of the class.

Not only is he extremely arrogant, but he answers every question with "go to the blog", which, by the way, does NOT have all the answers. I find his brand of teaching distasteful and my final grade in the class was not consistent with the grades I had been earning in class, so I find myself wondering how it is that I managed to get such a low score

Take notes, pay attention and his test will be easy. His Blog will be your new best friend as he refers to it nearly every class. Most notable moment of the term was an entire discussion of the "f word". Hilarious to say the least.

He's an awesome teacher! VERY HELPFUL and gives a lot of constructive criticism. You have to be ontime and in class all the time though. He does not approve of excessive tardiness or absences which is very understandable. TAKE HIS INTRO TO ACTING CLASS!

Theater Appreciation is probably one of the easiest classes at Ohlone. If you failed it, it's probably because you tried your hardest not to show up to plays and write a really simple two page analysis about them. Mark Nelson is funny, kind, helpful, and understanding. He is one of the nicest teachers I have ever had.

The entire class was based on his blog so you shouldn't take it if you don't have internet access. Anytime you ask a question he tells you to go to the blog etc. He was not at all helpful and I didn't learn anything from his class but I got an A because I read the blog every day. His lecture on theatre in the 1960s was fun though.

Ehhh... I'm split on whether or not I like him a whole lot. He's a good teacher, pretty fair, and gives a lot of good tips from a directors point of view, but you can tell he is more of a director/technician than an actor. I missed a few classes, but I always showed up on show days and my scenes were always rehearsed and I knew my lines so got A.

hes a smart-ass type of guy, but really into theatre and really likes to hear your opinions. if u write the papers on the plays and just go to the actual class (which is only 3 times) then you can definately get an A+! if you come to the class discussions on time, he will let you get away with not writing a paper!

Mark is the best teacher I have ever encountered in my several years of learning! He knows what he's talking about! Mark has more than 20 years experience in theatre and he has wonderful funny stories to tell! I love his stories! Mark's lectures are fun and entertainng, he is also a great actor and director! He really cares about his students!
