Be prepared to teach yourself everything, lectures will drag on longer than life itself so bring a few Red Bulls. He usually will let you go 40 minutes early once he reaches a problem he can't solve. Imagine a professor who literally doesn't know what he's teaching. He is usually not super accessible outside class. He's funny though!

Hyle's Micro-Econ class was very straight forward. There aren't really any surprises on his tests so just study your notes well, he gives good examples in class. He can be an entertaining lecturer because he is pretty funny and filter-less.

worst prof of my life he rambles and doesn't stay on task. his homework has nothing to do with class or tests and he makes students feel dumb when they ask valid questions about his nonsense.

Matt Hyle is a fine teacher. His lectures are very funny and he make econ very interesting. There is no reason you shouldn't get an A in his class as long as you put the work in. Also very helpful in his office hours and funny, he relates to his students. He also curves the final grade extremely.

Honestly, Matt Hyle is one of the most disrespectful and rude people I have ever met. He constantly has a very negative and nasty attitude and you can bet he will take that out on you. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this guys classes as you can unless you like being publicly ridiculed.

Beyond difficult tests and probably the least helpful professor you can find. He makes tons of wildly inappropriate jokes that frankly make the whole class uncomfortable. He has office hours but is rarely there and when he is he makes you feel like the biggest idiot in the world. If you can avoid him, do it.

Very down to earth and funny professor. Makes a lot of jokes and goes off on tangents that are usually pretty funny. Keeps class involved a lot with answering questions or using them for examples. Grade is based off 5 tests and overall homework score, with the lowest of the 6 dropped.

Comment:
Goes off topic way too much, wastes class time. Inappropriate, thinks he's funny and will go off on tangents. Dark view of the college system, complains how things work. I learned more from 15min youtube videos than 2 hours a week with him.

Hyle is a decent guy but his lectures drone on forever. He also teaches with a chalkboard and he has TERRIBLE writing so the two combined make for very confusing lectures. He drops the lowest test score but it is still a challenging course, do not expect an A however if you work for it, it is possible.

Knowledgeable, but goes off on tangents not related at all to what is going on, some inappropriate. There are online problems almost 3+ per ch. & 4 papers/problems. Test are hard, posts previous semesters test-helpful. Lots of reading & note taking. Uses chalkboard but its hard to read his writing. Strongly consider tutor!!!

Interesting jokes during class, a lot of the time they are inappropriate, but helps you understand some of the material. Must read the chapters and be in class because both will be on the test. Pretty simple homework, plus you can do it with a couple other people.

Professor Hyle is a very good teacher. He makes the classes interesting, not too tough of a grader. He tends to be very open and doesn't have a complete filter on what he says, but personally I think it's hilarious. One of the only classes I actually look forward to.

Most confusing and least straightforward teacher I have had but the easiest A I have had in three years. Removes a bunch of your worst quiz and test scores. I didn't even need to take the final because I was above 90%

If you have the opportunity to take a class, especially Microeconomics with Hyle, TAKE IT! He is an awesome professor. I never thought someone could make any econ class interesting, but he has managed to. I look foward to going to this class every time. His notes and assignments are exactly what is on the test. He also drops your lowest test grade.

I don't dread class simply because he is very funny. Unfortunately he spends too much class time telling jokes and not enough time actually making the content clear. I wouldn't take him unless you want to set yourself up for failure.

Great prof, I would take him again. He is extremely helpful, he looks for ways to give you more points, he is lighthearted and keeps the classes entertaining with his jokes and humor. Anyone that struggled with his class should probably switch their major. Hyle is easily one of my favorite professors.
