We used three textbooks, Heart of Darkness, Jane Eyre (9780312095451)and Three Sisters (9781559360555). In-class writings (randomly given) are required and great grade boosters; just fake it if you don't understand. He'll check it regardless. Take great notes because his writing prompts are challenging and reading the materials will help a lot.

I almost lost my love for Shakespeare in this course but in the end I regained it. Our midterm was comparing two film versions of Henry V. Our final was group work (I did not prefer but was easy and fun considering that fact that it placed in the courtyard). Papers are challenging but you should read and take notes to write great papers.

HE IS PROB THE BEST PROFESSOR FOR ENGLISH AT UT! I seriously struggle sometimes, but he is so helpful and will give your paper back to you if he knows you can do better, before he will grade it! I suggest if you can take him, he will teach you ALOT.

If you participate in class and volunteer when he wants people to act out scenes, then he won't give you a final! So participate! Like everyone else said, he's very funny and doesn't care if you read the books or not, just as long as you know the story.

Dr. Wikander is hilarious good fun, and a good prof at that. He also knows what he is talking about when it comes to Shakespeare and the Renaissance. Great class, I had so much fun.

I really didn't care much for Shakespeare going into the class, but Dr. Wikander's energy and enthusiasm for him made me appreciate him! Dr. Wikander is funny, and very helpful, and he really tries to make Shakespeare enjoyable.
