You will love him or hate him. Same faces take his classes over and over to learn from Potsdam's most intelligent writing professor. he is not afraid to publically criticize individuals to the point of tears, but if you can put away your ego and listen to what he is saying your writing will improve substantially

Huge ego but knows more than enough to back it up. Forgetful in old age and sometimes yells for not handing in assignments that he didnt assign. Claims to be a "mean old ****" but is kind at heart. Great stories, funny. can sit and talk with him for hours. if you don't take pride in your work don't be in his class. Loves athletes

This man is a horrible professor. Do not even think of missing his class. I had to attend a funeral for the parents of a close friend and he threw a fit. That was the only class I ever missed. he doesn't give any grades until the semester is over. If you are disabled, don't worry about your writing abilities, you'll get a 4.0. EXTEMELY UNFAIR.

Maurice Kenny is probably the worst professors I have ever met. He refers to his students as ignorant because they don't like his favorite authors, and uses every opportunity to pump his own ego. AVOID ANY CONTACT with him if you can help it. It doesn't matter if he is a good writer, he is a TERRIBLE professor.

He is completely unprofessional! We were all shocked at his lack of professionalism and complete insensitivity towards his students. He is extraordinarily intelligent but apparently too old to maintain the proper stance as a teacher. He gets confused and then he gets vicious.

Dr. Kenny knows more about poetry and Native American literature than anyone else alive. He is one of the few professors who makes it REALLY worth it to listen to all of his stories; anyone could learn a lot from him.

Although sometimes you must tiptoe around his ego, he is perhaps the most fascinating men I have ever encountered. A terrific writer himself, his insight into poetry defines the medium. If you have a chance to work with him, know that you being taught by someone that has lived and forgotten more poetry than you will ever read, and cherish his knowledge, it is invaluable.

The stories he had about his Native heritage were brilliant. However he was highly arrogant. He doesn't play favourites though. Which is very hard to find inP-dam. Takes pride in students that do well. However if you can't get past his arrogance and stubbourness it's hard to get along in the class.

Dr. Kenny knows what he is talking about as he is a well established author of many pieces. Yes, he makes you do work in his class! In the one course I took with him I was able to see a marked improvement in each and every writer in the room, be it that some were starting with pieces on happy Leprachauns and little red trucks. Want to be a better writer? Dr. Kenny will bring it out in you!

A talented man, traditional in style, and high in expectations. While he might be a gruff, his angst is consequential to increasingly ill-qualified and lazy students. You will learn much from him, if you work and do not expect lavish, unearned praise everytime. That's what the school of ed is for.
