Outstanding, knowledgeable professor who knows how to teach and motivate his students. One can easily sense how much he enjoys his work and I wish I could take more courses from him but ARC limits his teaching hours.

So, when I got the syllabus I almost dropped because most of your grade is based on tests. 300 midterm, 300 final, 200 discussions, 200 quizzes. I'm sure anyone one would panic just by the sight of it all. BUT, he literally gives you all the tool you need to be successful in his class. If you do the study guides. Read HIS materials, you'll be fine.

Dr V is a great prof. Honestly probably one of the best profs iv'e ever had. Cares about what he teaches and is very knowledgeable. If you get a chance to have Dr V. I highly recommend. If you are interested in commercial music, he's the best teacher around.

Best teacher I've ever had, he was like a father figure of audio. wish I could take him for all my recording class. He really cares and is passionate about what he teaches and gives amazing feedback and lectures. I'm so thankful for all he has taught me and learned so much about audio engineering. I highly suggest taking him if you can at ARC!!

Dr. V is a great teacher and a nice guy. I took him for recording level 1 and 2 and he is very passionate about his teaching and makes sure students get all the knowledge possible to succeed. I suggest you take him, and take notes of EVERYTHING he teaches, so you can recall!

Very helpful teacher! You must attend the labs for the recording if you don't know anything about it. It was hard to work on a project, but I found someone to help me as an adviser. Very fun class, and I am so excited that I got some knowledge about things that was interested in when I was a teenager!!!

Hard grader. Not easy quizzes and you have to save each page, on page one question what kips all your time and you have just 1 minute for question. Do not skip any single quiz or discussion, no late work accepted with any reason. Track discussion for 200 words, will count and give you less points. Professor strict, work hard and you will get A.

Keeping track of your own grade is difficult for this class because the point system was so ambiguous. Lectures consist of videos from the 90s. I'd be impressed if you were able to get through the lectures! Dr. V's a nice guy, the class-- not so much. The txtbook is useless. Use his personal website for reviewing for exams and quizzes.

I'm sure Dr. V is a good professor, but not for World Music. I came in as a music major excited to learn. Instead, all of his lectures/videos are from 1993 at the very latest. If you can regurgitate information for his many tests, you will probably still only get a B. Paid almost $200 for the textbook and didn't even use it. Really disappointing.

I suggest not taking this class with this professor. No extra credit and hard grader on discussions. No feedback as to why I received a lower grade than expected when all of his criteria was met or exceeded. Total grade is out of 1000 points. If you end up with 899.99 points, you will have a B. Do not take.

Very nice guy and great lecturer. His quiz/text material are clear and straight out of the study guides, which are given at the beginning of each section. As long as you take lecture notes and study (hint: flash cards), you'll be fine. Also, DON'T show up late. He'll call you out in front of the class (which I actually respect).

Dr.V is a very insightful person. He's got the knowledge and concept down. He is a hard grader but also fair. My advice is go to the out of class labs. They are an incovience but they help alot. The more time you spend in lab the easier it gets. Force yourself to learn in land because it's super fun. Do everything early and ontime you won't regret

Best professor ever! Funny, engaging, and overall just great! His tests are super easy if you look over the study guide a few times. You are required to attend a few concerts and I recommend you do this beginning of the semester. Interesting lectures. Its OK to miss a few days as you can get pretty much any information on his website. AWESOME!!

Dr. V. is the single, greatest professor that I have ever encountered in my college career. He has some of the most in-depth and extensive knowledge of audio out there. He literally designed and built the majority of the current program at American River College and is tirelessly pursuing ways to grow the program and improve it. Pursue this degree!

Dr. V was the reason I went to school at ARC. Met him and toured the music department with him... 3 semesters later I'm still here! :) Without a doubt the best professor I've ever had- helpful, clear, pushes you to learn, definitely caring about who you are and what you want to accomplish!
