Professor Beals is a very passionate and well respected professor who is great about explaining challenging concepts. He is always open to taking time from the lecture to address specific questions. Really, really nice guy. Very caring about his students and a great lecturer, even if the material is a bit dry. That being said, he always runs over time so don't schedule a class right after his. Note, the homework takes hours to do and the exams (exactly like the review sheets) are a bit intensive. Be prepared for a lot of work.

Beals is a really nice guy. If you are looking to become a teacher, he is really good. Lectures seem bland, but you learn a lot. Midterm and Final are exactly like his review sheets for them. Homework every week. very good for education

He is a really genuine, nice guy and definitely knows his stuff. His lectures always go over the hour and 20 so don't schedule a class right after his. He's always willing to answer any questions & holds multiple review sessions for the exams and final. Both of which are identical to the review sheets. He has weekly HW assignments, but theyre easy

Homework is assigned every week, which got a bit annoying. Exams are very straight forward. His lectures are extremely long and he always went over the hour and 20 minutes. Doesn't take time to ask the class questions, just keeps plowing through the material. His notes on the board make 0 sense and lack purpose.

Had him for a Byrnes Seminar, To infinity and beyond, discussing infinity and what not. Great teacher, didn't stop at all for discussion which sucked because he just kept marching on she none of us knew what was happening. very nervous even though he's been teaching for ages

Very good teacher who communicates understanding. Sometimes he rushes at the punchline of the proof and you get lost. Raise your hand and ask him to explain that part again. The course is difficult so pay attention the whole time. Very good teacher.

BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD! HE IS BRILLIANT! HIS CLASS IS A LITTLE BORING AND HOMEWORK COULD BE DIFFICULT BUT HE IS SO WILLING TO HELP. IF YOU MEET WITH HIM AFTER CLASS, HE WILL GO OVER THE WORK STEP BY STEP. HE IS SO SWEET AND MATH FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IS THE ONLY MATH CLASS I HAVE EVER ENJOYED, AND HAVE ACTUALLY DONR WELL IN THE CLASS.

BEST TEACHER EVER !! He is sooo understanding and lets you submit homework assignments late, he shows you different methods to teach math to students and different ways to solve problems. He never lets you out early but the class goes by fast. I would DEFINITELY recommend him to anyone who wants to be a teacher. Easy A :)

Math for elementary teachers. I hate math. Prof. is a very very nice guy and I wish I had had him for something else. Class is terrible, in class work has nothing to do with homework. Homework could often take several hours for about 4 problems. Would not reccommend this class for people who hate math.

Ok. So I want to be a teacher. So this class was recommended to me by my advisor. It was the last math class I had to take. This was the worst math class I ever took. The lectures were terrible. The homework and lectures had nothing to do with each other. The homework took several hours to do. I would not reccommend this class at all.

Explains material extremely well. Not a good idea to skip class cuz its much easier to learn the stuff from him rather than trying to pick up on it yourself. probably the nicest man ive ever met. will meet any time he can outside of class for extra help and is very very smart. HIGHLY recommended. :D

Great teacher, loves his job, loves teaching in general. You can't go wrong with Topics in Math. He's really into everything that your doing and want to see done. He will explain everything!
