Comment:
WARNING: This course is designed for Chem & Biochem majors, NOT BIOLOGY majors. With that being said, Dr. Bruist is a good man, however, teaching is not his forte. If you become lost in the material you may have to sign up for tutoring sessions. However, don't be surprised if the tutor is just as lost as you are. The avg for our last exam was a 45.

Comment:
Bruist is a difficult teacher as he is not the best at explaining material. This is an important skill given the difficulty of the subject material. He is however willing to help you through the process, and thus is a great teacher whom you can learn alot from. Do not take this class concurrently with other difficult courses.

I don't understand how this professor still is teaching at this university. He contradicts himself all the time and I'm terrified for his exams because he doesn't teach clearly. He doesn't help. Really smart guy, can't teach.

Very tough course. The homework assignments were redic. We had a pool for whoever got the lowest grade ( somebody won with a 9%), the tests were very tough and demanded a ton of studying, but if you did your diligence, you did well. Those who slacked failed. Overall, he was fair and helpful. If you showed effort, you passed,if you didn't, you failed

I have to agree with the last post, Bruist seems like a very nice man but I find him SO hard to follow and truly inarticulate. The textbook is easier to understand than he is and his exam are hard!

I can't believe the comments on here. Bruist is the worst & everyone I know agrees. He contradicts himself in class, mumbles, and his lectures are very disorganized. He is a very smart man, but an awful teacher.I studied SO hard and got the lowest grade I've ever gotten.

Bruist is a very fair teacher and is willing to go the extra mile to help you when you don't understand something. The tests are very fair, he gives you a question pool ahead of time. Don't let the name of the class scare you, it's really not that bad.

He does talk quickly, his exams are of medium diffculty. With the recitation points, you should end up with a good to decent grade. All I recommend is to read the book or the lecture outlines he places online before he goes over them in class.
