If you don't already know calculus, you're in for a ride. He expects everyone to already know the material and isn't very helpful when you don't know how to start a problem. He's intimating and will call you out in class if you do something wrong. There are three tests total (one being the final) and there are no homework or attendance.

Took calc 1 again cause HS math teacher told me to if I really wanted to be prepared for engineering(A in tht class) 3 tests total, approx. 14 questions a piece. Must relearn math the way Marcozzi wants you to, if you don't follow his methods highest you can get on tests is 80. You HAVE to attend to understand material. Take him as last resort.

ITS A WRENCH!!!! LEARN TO PLAY THE GAME!!! But seriously though, Calculus is hard, an if you're willing to buckle down, practice the examples in the book, and discard your old habits from highschool, you'll do fine. I got a D on my first test but ended the class with an A-.

Hes obviously very smart and knows what hes teaching but he doesnt realize that people who take these math classes dont have the same education on calculus, etc as he does. Hes not helpful so dont go to him if you have questions. Youre kind of on your own. If you dont understand something he gets sarcastic and doesnt help...

Marcozzi was decent at best. idk why but all of these math professors want to teach their own way instead of following the book. If you've taken calc before, just forget that knowledge because he makes you do every problem differently which takes much longer. Class is made up into two tests and one final, with a fraction going towards the discussio

Marcozzi is really kind and personable if you approach him one-on-one. But in lecture he is very condescending by saying the material is not that hard. He only allows you to use his methods of reaching solutions, so high school tips and tricks are no longer of any use. There are only three exams (2 regular tests and 1 final), with two parts each.

Prepare to spend a large portion of your lectures being told that it is not hard. If you know the shortcuts, they will not help you so throw them all away. I attempted to go to tutoring multiple times and was told, they know how to arrive at the solutions, but they don't know where that notation came from. My advice, spare yourself the headache.

The lectures Marcozzi gave were very helpful and developed my overall understanding of math and calculus; however, when it came to the tests he was very difficult and expected you to follow his process precisely. Every little specific part of his notation is incredibly important to receiving a high mark on the exams.

I'm rating a man that I HATED at the beginning of the year. He is particular with how he does his problems and grades your work, but what he says makes sense. if you try and do it his way you will get an A because the tests are the same as the quizzes and notes. He is willing to drop your first exam grade. Go to class, he entertains. YOU WILL LEARN

This is not your high school math class. If you're willing to learn a new and helpful perspective on how to work on math AND put in the effort to pass, this is the professor to take. He may come across as mean, but he isn't. He just doesn't like lazily done work. The problems he works on are practical and don't use many formulas.

Test problems are EXACTLY like class notes or quizzes. Honestly, I can't see how this guy can be any easier. Go to class, read the notes (which he posts!), do the problems in class. It is not your high school class. Very nice man.

Terrible. He spends most of his time scolding everybody b/c he assumes all students were taught incorrect in high school. He has his notes pre-written, so instead of running through problems in class like he should, he just shows them for a good three min, explains it super fast, then removes it before you even get a chance to follow along.

Homework isn't required. His notes are posted online. The problem with his notes is that he uses a pen so when he makes a mistake; he scribbles it and it happens often. The work he shows in his notes are all over the place, so he needs to organize it. Wish he would use a pencil. His handwriting needs a little improvement and writes really small.

If you miss something on the test, he will mark you off a lot of points. I learned a shorten way in high school, but apparently, if you did that with this professor then it's considered incorrect because you aren't doing calculus. Everything has to be done his way.

This man simply cannot teach. He constantly tells us the textbooks are full of garbage but can't even develop a clear lecture for us to go off of.

He's blunt, and will knock your grade down hard if you get something wrong with a trick. He is also one of the best professors you could hope to have for 181. He won't hold your hand, but his tests reflect what he teaches in class, and there are usually a few extra points to be had. Do things his way and show up for every class, and you will pass.

If you want to learn where in the real world calculus is applied, then take Marcozzi. He assigns problems from the book that he says are closer to real world problems. The tests are a mixture of quizzes and homework so practice both. The examples he goes over in class will almost always be on the test, so don't skip class.

This is by far the best math class I've ever taken at UNLV. Marcozzi is amazing. I wish I could take him for all my math classes. Exams were no surprise and had problems as expected. He was clear and explained things thoroughly. I really feel that I am prepared for future math classes.

Go with another professor who has a clear expectation on class and keeps up with grading so you know how you're doing in the class. You are told one thing and tested on another.
