He is not a very good professor. Class is extremely boring. He sits on his butt for 3 hours and lectures. No power point or anything and he does nothing to mix up the material. If you don't know how to spell a word too bad. Tests are not multiple choice you have to write everything out. There is no word bank or anything. Wish I hadn't taken it

This was the worst teacher I've ever had. he does not care that much about the class and makes this political class extremely hard if you don't believe what he believes. His lectures are sooo boring, and the exams are very long. I would not recommend this teacher for anyone

Dear God, he lectures straight for 4 hours without a powerpoint or anything. You have to go though because this is where test material comes from. He knows his stuff, for sure, but makes you learn all sorts of insignificant facts. Your grade is completely off of the tests which are about 10 pages long. Honestly wish I didn't take this class.

Literally the best professor I've ever had. Use the check off paper on note cards, memorize them all, and get 100% in the class. The essay is 5 pages long, single spaced, but he tells you the first day. If you don't get an A in this class, you aren't studying or paying attention.

Mr. Murphy is a great teacher, however, I would only recommend him if you are an exceptional note taker because about 97% of the time is him giving lectures. Someone who either really likes government or is very good at memorizing very specific information. His tests are all fill in the blank so there is a lot of information to memorize.

Wouldn't reccomend this professor to anyone. You just sit there and listen to him talk the whole time, no need for a book. The tests are all fill in the blank so get ready to memorize hundreds of random facts and names. Didn't learn anything in this class. Although he definitely knows his stuff and is passionate.

He talks for four hours straight, sits in a chair, and drinks a 2 liter coke everyday. Do not take this class especially in the spring. His test are not multiple choice all blank and his test are 10 pages. The make up exams are 2 pages per question (meaning 10 pages for a make up exam). Don't buy a book. Purely lecture. And last day is a final+Exam

While very enthusiastic about the course content and quite knowledgeable, he has somewhat unrealistic expectations for the students. Teaching style is 100% lecture and everything from the exams is taken directly from lecture. He has tons of facts memorized and expects you to do the same. Would not recommend this professor..

While not a terrible teacher, Murphy leaves much to be desired. His lectures are an hour and a half of him spewing facts at you, all of which you must be willing to regurgitate on the next test. His papers are long, 5 pages long. So you'll need to learn how to ramble. That being said, he is enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

This teacher means for the best but he isn't understanding. He is able to memorize loads of facts about history. I am not able to, though, so I did terrible on his tests. If you take his class, you'll be expected to memorize EVERYTHING he says. He was willing to help, but he couldn't help my bad memory. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

Extremely boring. Assigns insanely long papers and grades hard. The tests are multiple choice and easy but very long. Will assign papers about something that you could not possibly write as much as he expects. When writing a paper put extreme detail into it. I would not recommend this teacher ever.

This is a very difficult class. Test questions are like trivial pursuit. If you are good at memorizing, then you might do ok. 8 page (single spaced) paper on how you would run for office counts for 20% of your grade, so if you are good at writing you could do ok. I don't recommend this class. I didn't learn much.

Do not take this class!!! if you insist on an explanation keep on reading. This teacher makes the subject of american government even more boring. He lectures for 3 hours straight and does not get up from his desk the entire time. His tests are ridiculous. 8 page single spaced paper worth 20% of grade

Fun class. It is hard to be interested in American Gov. but everyone should be. Lectures all class, gives quiz questions, open to debating. If you try hard, you will get a really good grade.
