Worst professor I've ever had. Assigned papers without being clear what he wants, and when you do it wrong he'll slam your grade. And while his lectures are useless, he'll destory your grade with class participation that never happens. Thank God he's gone...

i would take him again, probably because i can say it's fairly easy to get an A in his class. has one of those scales where 100-85 = A / 85-75 = B etc. it's interesting too and i think i've learned some things i'll actually remember

He's one of the best teachers at MSU. His lectures are fascinating and he knows this stuff inside out. He's even written a book. His razor-sharp wit is underappreciated I think, because Americans in general are not very good listeners so when someone has an accent they just say "Oh, he doesn't sound like a Missourian," and just give up.

Has accent but is easy to understand. Not easy class but if you put in time you can do well. The keys are good (perfect is better) attendance, keeping up with the reading and study guides. DON'T GET BEHIND IN READING! He does grade hard but the grading scale is lower than most: 85% is an A. Online notes can be printed. I would take him again.

He taught about the Cultural Revolution, and was able to share his personal experience through that time. He always explains what you don't understand and encourages questions and discussion. He'll work out essay or test inconveniences.

notes are provided as well as study guides, accent makes for several giggles during class for mis-pronounciations, but speaks very well, tests are easy if you actually study and like 1/2 being multiple-guess ??s on a HS level, Really Nice Guy

If you like to sit and be talked to by someone who you can not really understand then this is your class. Also attendance is huge like you loose percentage points for not go more than like three time

Very poor english. All notes are online, He mainly reviews them with you in more detail. Tests are fairl easy, but because of his accent you may as well read the book yourself.

Bad accent. Tests are pretty hard. Notes are online which is helpful. Don't really need to read the book but there are the occasional quiz worth 5 points.

I hated everything about his class. Had notes already printed, but tests were the hardest things I've ever taken. An A starts at an 85% if that tells you anything, making a 65% a C.

Dr. Sheng knows history. Readily printable outline for discussions avail. online. Gives participation points, so you should show up. He may say something funny. He speaks english very well, but still has an accent, could be difficult to understand.
