took both 1301 and 1302 with Dr. Topp. definitely recommend. He only has 4 hw assignments for which you have to read a lil but are pretty straightforward. 1 midterm and one final which is a take home essay. He uses reef to do polls while in class and uses this to take attendance which is a huge boost to your grade. great class.

Very funny, awesome person in general took him for 1301 and took him again last semester for 1302. only four essays and a midterm and final. whatever you do, do not show up late for his class he will punish you in one way or another but not in a bad way. very funny and active lectures

Gives interesting, funny lectures. Attendance is taken through REEF throughout the duration so you can't really skip. Four 1-page essays, the midterm and the final are also essays so if you don't like writing don't take him. Definitely need to read and take notes, or at least pay attention. Great guy in general, does give extra credit.

Professor Topp is by far my favorite teacher, he is funny, super cool guy, he usually gives us literally like 5 minutes before class if were too rowdy to talk amongst us, he finishes lectures like 2o minutes earlier. The class consists of 4 essays and they arent tough graders, a midterm and a final and everything is turned in online except the midt

the professor is great. really funny also. no homework other than 4 one page essays in the beginning, but super easy. his lectures are very good and explains everything. is honest and answers all questions. likes his students to participate in questions and discussions.

Michael Topp is a good professor, he's funny and entertaining. He's passionate about history and teaches it well. There are 4 one page papers the first month from the textbook material. Extra credit for attending every single class. Does reef questions after most lectures that count towards your grade. The midterm and the final are both essays.

Professor Topp was a great teacher for intro history. He knows not everyone loves history as much as he does, so he makes sure to challenge students w/o making them hate the course even more. He relies on REEF polling & the textbook heavily, so be sure to pay attention to both. He's also a jokester and provides a comfortable learning environment.

Professor Topp is your first choice when taking an introductory class to History. He knows that this class is not for History majors so he is very comprehensive. You will only have two exams (Very very easy) and 4 essays (very easy as well). Apart from that show up to class and you'll pass. Awesome lectures and funny!

Professor Topp is one of my favorite professors! He truly cares for his students and makes his class 100% discussion based. You do have to write one essay per week for the first few weeks which are based on the book but they are only 1 page long. 1 midterm and 1 take home final, but for HIST you could not ask for a better class or professor!

OK so I took his immigration class. it was intense cuz your whole grade is based on 2 debates! u will have 2 debate & rebuttal in front of the class so be prepared! He asked 4 like 4 books but only the last 1 was needed. That was a waste of money! He tries to make the class fun but his lectures are super boring cuz u r more worried @ the debate.

Dr. Topp was an amazing professor. He knows his stuff. He is extremely helpful and available all of the time. The class is structured around two debates that are challenging, but super fun. I would strongly recommend this class.
