Professor Walter is a character, all of his lectures are posted online so I hardly attended class, this backfired however because I ended up missing points because he took random attendance. Tests are online and over only material discussed in lectures so dont bother buying the book.

He structures Microbio as a introductory lab based course, with a very relaxed lecture. He provides very little structure and oftentimes I wasn't sure what was expected of me, in terms of my laboratory manual or in regards to exam material. This should be an easy class, but with so little direction, it was a real headache for me

One of the worst professors I have ever taken. His course wouldn't have been difficult if he wasn't so unorganized. He comes off as a nice guy, but lacks the ability to teach adequately.

Dr. Walter can be all over the place but it works out. Don't be afraid to question him if he's not clear. He's definitely going to be respectful and treat you like an adult. I took his Virology class and loved it, but if you're not already interested it could be a bit much. He's going to challenge you but it's not impossible with a little effort.

Walter is an okay professor. He's really funny and always resorts to talking about sex to grab your attention. His tests are HARD! We took them online and were able to use notes and each other and I still earned a C on the final. If you love plant biology this is the class for you.. if your fullfilling an LAC class you might want to reconsider.

Pointless class if you're not a bio major. He knows a lot about the topics, so most of the stuff will go over your head if you don't prepare for class. Doesn't follow the syllabus. 3 tests, all online, so you don't have to study. Final is comprehensive. Doesn't take attendance unless he happens to call on you. Tries hard to relate to your major.

Not a bad guy but it was hard to know what he expected. The syllabus wasn't really followed and it always seemed like over half the class was confused in lab, which was probably the worst two hours of every week for me since I never knew exactly what was expected

virology: make sure to read the assigned chapters or will be totally lost when at lectures. lectures are very scattered as well as labs. tests are right off study guide so make sure to fill out all questions. will answer questions, pretty helpful. make sure keep up with the lab book!

He decided to have us write formal lab reports for EVERY lab we did this semester. We do approximately 4-6 new labs a week! Most people filled two separate laboratory notebooks! Tests are extremely hard...must have EXACTLY what he wants to get full credit on an all essay test! Thinks very highly of himself, and will not hesitate to let you know.

An average overall teacher. Has a sizeable ego, loves microbiology, and is not afraid to let you know either. Fill out homework completely as he is a stickler on points, but this class is nothing you can't handle.

Great guy. dry sense of humor, we had a great quote list by the end of the semester. doesn't expect too much in this intro class. grades fair, tests are almst exactly what he covers in class. I never read the book once and got a B+.

General Bio I Lab teacher... Great guy. Wants the best for his students. Clearly explains topic, provides help if it is needed. Better than Brecheisen!
