Dr.Zavada is a great teacher...he may seem harsh, but once you get to know him he is really nice...Lectures are interesting because he can never stay on topic...There is only a midterm and final exam and one large plant collection project due for the semester

A brilliant, if somewhat volatile, man. He can be arrogant, especially if you disagree, but he's worth listening to--he tells fantastic stories!

If you're a bio major, take electron micro. It's the only class in the dept. that's taught like a grad school course. It really prepares you. Zavada does act like an ass, but it is an act.

This is a great bio class for non-science majors. He focuses much more on written and oral communication of the information than on objective exams - in fact, we had no objective exams. I learned a lot, too. He acts like a jerk but I think it's an act.
