Michelle is intense to say the least. She is fair and will definitely like you more if you go to class and sit near the front. Don't talk in her class or she'll call you out on it. She's definitely easy to hear, especially when she's projecting her voice to the class while standing right beside you during the middle of a test... Overall OK.

Comment:

She looks intimidating but she is one of the best profs I have ever had the privilege of learning from. She cares about her job, the content she teaches and most importantly about her students. If you need any help whatsoever she is there for you. Lectures are interesting and so are the readings. You will learn valuable things form her!

Dr. Folk is an amazing professor that is very passionate about her subject matter. She has very clear grading criteria, as long as you do what she says you will do great in her class.

Comment:

This was an overall easy class to pass as long as you attend class. Lectures were easy to follow but only if you had done the prescribed reading. Notes were very difficult to take as there was limited slides/written notes and was mostly oral lecturing. Easy marker. Very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject.

Fantastic prof. Enthusiastic, very knowledgable. Great at answering questions. Good, interesting lectures. Very kind. Need to read the textbook and she does attendance for marks- it's an easy 10%. As long as you study for exams she's very clear with what's on them (can be difficult if you don't study). She often offers activities for bonus marks

Just know that if you don't write the notes down from in class lectures you will most likely fail the class. Read as much as you can from the textbook before class because she refers to the textbook quite often. Come to class on time because she give participation assignments at the beginning of class. There are a few bonus assignments as well.

I don't want other students take make my mistake. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS FROM HER. - 25-30% of the class will be on irrelevant subject matter - Her lectures and slides are disorganized and difficult to take notes on - She does not know how to emphasize important material - Pushes her personal agenda I could go on, but I hit the character limit

I enjoyed her class, she is very detailed and specific in her instructions which I found to be helpful. She speaks clearly and expects her students to work hard.

Terrible professor. She talks too much of irrelevant things. Talks too quickly to actually enjoy what she is trying to teach. I was looking forward to this class, turned out to be a dud. Very dissapointing. She is definitely passionate about this subject, which is the only thing she has going for her.

DO NOT REGISTER HER COURSES!!! She has a lot of things to talk in class but most of them are off-topic, but be aware, the exams she gives us are based on those things she said in class. The review slides are useless because it was not cover what she said in class. I reviewed the slides and I failed the exams.

You must be very specific in your wording on assignments/exams. If you do not have your answer word for word you will not get marks on the exam or assignment. Michelle loves to go off topic and ramble on about things that are not always important to the class subject.

She is extremely nice to have a conversation with BUT, is VERY strict with assignments, tests and attendance. Textbook information is lots of background & small details but most of exams are based on what she says in class. Dates are VERY strict for assignments and exams. Large research assignment that is very tedious. Gets off topic & rants a lot.

Michelle teaches the material very well, but it's the hardest class I've taken so far, and I'm taking 300 level classes. You have to memorize things almost exactly the way she teaches them, because she doesn't give half marks in her exams. (Why?) PowerPoint for lectures, textbook readings, mandatory attendance. I find the class interesting though.

She is a very good teacher, she gives powerpoints but you have to attend class because she will cover some materials that arent on the powerpoints. She sometimes talks for a long time. But, overall she is one of my favourite profs
