The class wasn't hard at all, you just had to do your work. If you need any help he is there to help you. Great and easy class.

Took it online. There is a lot of work involved but it is pretty basic stuff. For some of the last few assignments, I didn't even edit any of the HW files and turned it in and still got full credit. Midterm and final are 100 questions each but it went in order from chapter to chapter so you can easily find the answers.

I took his CIS 120 class online and it was fairly easy. If you are good at following directions from a book and onto whatever program like Excel or PowerPoint, you'll do fine. There were also quizzes for each lesson, normally 2 a week. The only downside is that if you have a question and email him, he most likely will just refer you to the book.

Very poor at responding to student emails. Due dates on syllabus and module instructions didn't math what was in the online program. Final grade did not match my point value. Not sure if it was curved... Because he doesn't communicate at all.

His lectures are painfully boring. All of the material is in the book. Needed tech support multiple times... In a computer class. Uses wikipedia as a reference in his lectures.

This class was really boring. Feel like the lectures were to long. Fell asleep in almost every class he just reviews everything we have already read online. I like the way the class and assignments were set up though. Get ready for ALOT of quizes at least 3 to 4 a week and long assignments. 2 tests only. Gets grumpy and upset when you ask for help

I had the same experience that a lot of people have had in his class, which is: every class is a long boring power point he made pulling directly from the book. He likes to randomly go to Wikipedia a lot and also likes to go off on random tangents about older technology that is related to the lesson, but just ends up confusing the class.

Lectures are so long and boring. He reads from a power point lesson everyday of class. Also, likes to read information straight off of Wikipedia. You'll easily lose interest in the class within 2-4 weeks. Home work is repetitive but quizzes aren't to bad. I wouldn't recommend this professor.

Lots of assignments, no discussion board so no student interaction, quick to respond to emails. No way to review your answers on quizzes due to the way he setup blackboard. Some quizzes only had 1 question instead of 10 so had to email professor to reset the quiz so that I could actually complete it. Week 7 and 2 weeks behind on grading.

Mike Bates is the kind of person that gets very hostile and flustered if you point out an error of his. He does not take time while grading assignments and pretty much reads from power points from the text the entire class. He expects you to attend class or face a deduction in points and I attended class twice and could not stand the guy.

Very interesting class and professor, definitely was not easy as there was a lot of homework. If you get a little thing wrong you may be deducted a lot of points, keep a close eye on the grading he does as I caught a grading mistake and email him afterwards I got full credit. Big midterm/final, but as long as you're prepared you'll do fine.

Terrible teacher. Neer replied to any emails. Waited until last minute to add assignment turn-in links. Could never get onto the final link. Missed doing the final. Easy class though when everything. Had an A before the final mess up. I would not recommend him, ever.

I actually learned a lot in this online class. Some of the work was pretty tedious and repetitive. Theres weekly assignments and two exams, not hard to get an A. Don't really know Mike, seems like an ok guy, don't know what he is like in class though. This is a good class to take online.

This class was so boring and tedious. He gives an extraordinary amount of work that is completely pointless. There are some things that are useful but all it is is a rinse and repeat method. Continue to do the boring work 6 different ways - final and midterm are worth 100 points each and homework is work 18 points - do well on 2 tests and pass.

Outdated and semi useless information for someone going into a support specialist career. I was marked wrong on tests because i answered with the correct and current answer, not the wrong and outdated answer that he thinks is right ( it may have been like 10 - 20 years ago but not now.) Homework in no way draws from the in class sessions. Avoid him

This teacher is knowledgeable, but cannot convey his knowledge well. I am in a hybrid class that is essentially useless. I could take it online and get more out it. The online portion is very confusing. I highly disagree with his teaching style. As a future teacher, I would never show grades nor discuss grades in front of to the whole class.

Class was nothing like the description. It is a great class is you want a crash course in word processing and email editing. Class is very boring and the instructor teaches from Wikipedia. This class was painful to attend and the amount of homework is stupid and almost solely consists of letter writing formatting and editing.

Not very knowledgeable, just lectures from the textbook. I should have just taken the online version of this class because all assignments are online anyway. For someone teaching a computer class it didn't seem like he knew what he was doing when it came to computers. He always seemed to have at least one computer problem every class.
