Dr. Curme is the best professor I have had at Miami. He loves what he teaches and truly cares about his students. I learned more in his class alone then I did in the past 3 years of college, but be warned, you need to work hard in this class.

Take Dr. Curme if you are sincerely interesed in learning concepts, being intellectually challenged, and enjoy being around people who are passionate about what they do. Do not take him if your main concern is your GPA or being pushed outside of your comfort zone.

Take him! He is one of the best professors in the department, has great interest in the subject, and is very clear with his expectations for the course. The class is very challenging, but he grades the class based on a relative scale and curves a lot so that it is very fair! One of my favorite classes so far!

Comment:

Curme himself is interesting, but the class is poor. An hour spent in other classes will actually raise your grade. It may take about three hours to do the same in Curme's class. The last reviewer has the correct breakdown of your grade. Take with another instructor--it isn't worth the risk to your GPA.

HORRIBLE!!!!!! I am an Econ major here at miami, and this class has ruined my gpa. This class is VERY exam heavy (24% each), quizzes every Friday class (18%), and 1 paper (10%). I do not recommend this class.

Mike is the bomb.. He cares about the students and he cares about everyone else. He is a fine instructor.. Wish he was not the Ass. Dean because that takes away from our class time with him. He is very committed and anyone that can take his course should, he is the best Miami has to offer.

Dr. Curme is the best professor at Miami University. The only problem- he's the associate dean of the business school, so he isn't in the classroom as much as he should be. Had him in Spring 09 and still talk to him as much as possible. He is incredibly challenging; monumentally helpful. Unbelievable teacher--absolutely dedicated to students.

Yes this class is difficult, but if you show up to class (on time) and don't fall behind you will be fine, Curme is a great prof who is straightforward about the difficulty of the class, one of my favorite profs at Miami

He is the best teacher I have ever had. His exams are really tough and you have to study a lot (A LOT) for them, but he is really helpful and you will actually learn stuff. I got a 67 on the first exam, then a 79, but I got a 100 on the final so it's totally possible!

First, let me say that Dr. Curme isn't easy. Unless you are an econ. savant, you will need to put some work in. But, if you do, you will learn a great deal and get to know a man who cares about being an educator more than being an economist. My favorite prof. at miami. I talk to him regularly still. Highly recommended

You will definitely learn a lot, but a tough class even for people very interested in econ.Weekly quizzes are difficult and online homework was a pain, but real world examples and minimum book use were great. It will take a LOT of effort to get an A in this class.

Loves economics, but lectures are hard to follow because they're his stream of consciousness. I do NOT recommend him for non-business majors. Exams are very hard though he curves. Be prepared to put a lot of effort into this class.

This is the greatest teacher at Miami. If you miss on taking one of his classes, then its your loss. Yes, he is a hard teacher, but you will learn a ton and he curves a letter grade. Take his class and it will change your life.

Enthusiastic about Economics to the point it's contagious. Tests/quizzes are hard, but the information you get out of the class is worth it. Also, he curves pretty substantially at the end of the course. If you aren't a slacker, take Curme and you guys will get along great. Office hours are very helpful and he's a cool prof. to just chat with too.

This class was the hardest class I'd had to date (now ECO 202 takes that prize) at Miami. He's an enthusiastic guy and definitely loves econ. His exams are hard, and there is a quiz every week. I somehow managed to get a B in this class, so I think he curves a bit at the end.

i have had curme for two semesters now, you would think he is easier in a small class but not by much. he is tough but grades on the curve. you will not get an A unless you bust your butt, but i did learn alot.
