Truly one of my worst experiences in university, practically ruined my entire impression of the University of Alberta for my first year. Not only hard to understand (she teaches english but it is questionable if she can speak it) and was extremely unhelpful all times i asked for help. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE!

Cancelled 30-45% of our classes in one semester, marks fairly easily, but comments suck. Nothing useful to do in class - we studied imperialism for 3 classes for a Heart of Darkness essay- might as well make it History111. I did not learn ANYTHING, and I'm assuming my writing skills and standards of engl at the U of A have fallen drastically.

This class made me worse at writing. Her feedback and criticisms were not helpful at all. Lectures were long and hard to follow.

quite possibly one of the worst teachers at the UoA. Cancelled 6/7 classes in one semester which resulted in our class only doing Heart of Darkness and 3 short stories. Extremely rude in the way she critques an essay. This class caused me nothing but grief.

Very easy prof is you can write a good essay. Down to earth and approachable. Midway through my term paper I lost my way and just rambled my way through the rest using big words, solid A-. Very eclectic reading material.

absolutely ridiculous prof. talks like her mouth is on fire. She can talk for an hour and yet tell you absolutely nothing of relevance. She likes to make her sentences highly convoluted and delibrately complex just to show off. Knows nothing about literature, just talks and talks and talks.

She is out to lunch when it comes to her classes... Very dificult to understand and following her n a lecture it is nearly impossible because of a rushed speech pattern and very strong accent. I can't say that I like her marking either, it is extremely biased and though she may say essays can take different apporaches the only right view is her own

She arbitrarily hands out marks based on how exited you appear or how much you mentioned feminism on your essay about Heart of Darkness. Interesting class but she frustrated the hell out of me with her inexplicable marking schemes

Are You Kidding? She was pretty clueless... tried telling the class Henrik Ibsen was from Germany, and described Antigone as "some play that was from back in greece... can't think of what its called or who wrote it...." Brutal.
