She sometimes tries to teach a good lesson, but more often than not, she's too preoccupied with her personal life. Be nice to her or your grade will suffer. Her syllabus means nothing at all; she'll do what she has time to do, or just cancel class. Take her if you're ready for a fight.

Dr. Benham is by far my favorite professor that I have ever had. You have to be ready to try in her class. Sign I is not a blow off class, but it is very fun and she makes it fun. But regardless of what anyone else said, Dr. Benham is an amazing person with a great heart :)

She can be very intimidating but knows what she is talking about and prepares you well. If you respect her she will respect you. This is a class that you need to put effort into or she will let you know you shouldn't be in that class. If you want to learn ASL and about deafness she is by far the best there is. She can be your best friend or enemy.

She's good at teaching sign, but the rest of her classes are kind of chaotic and disorganized. You can pretty much throw out the syllabus when you get it. Aside from sign class, most of the things that we learned were common sense. Be prepared to have projects sprung on you and to put up with some serious moodiness.

really being a deaf ed major has nothing to do w/ it bc most start out not knowing sign anyway & are at the same level. just depends how much you put into it. take the "royal terror"...you'll be glad you did:) she'll do anything to help.

This woman is a royal terror and her class is a nightmare from hell if you're not a deaf-ed or related major!!! Despite putting in huge amounts of time, going to class, and paying attention I ended the year with a D. Her c grade starts at a 74. If at all possible STAY AWAY

She loves her job and it shows. She's an easy A if you put an effort into the class and have a study group. If not, you'll struggle. Don't make her mad though because she won't be too shy to make you feel bad or shout you out in class. Watch your step and this might just be your favorite class!!

Dr. Benham sucks. She does have her favorites and if you're not one of them... then you're screwed! Our class started with 18 students and ended with 8 or so--- she made everyone else cry. Unless you are willing to kiss her butt... forget about it.

Dr. B is an awesome teacher! If you do your work and put effort into it you'll be fine. She can be rough, but only because she wants to make us better. Give her a chance and you'll see she will easily earn your respect. She's dedicated to her students!
