she's not a bad teacher. assignments are very abstract. she wants us to think like an artist, not a commercial artist. though assignments are very interesting sometimes, i wish sometimes we learn more about the technical aspects of programs

I feel like Nancy dumbs everything down and speaks to us like we're little kids. I would expect a digital arts teacher to be able to find the power button on an overhead projector and be able to fix the power setting on her laptop so that the screen doesnt go to sleep every five minutes. This course has potential, but it definitely let me down.

I don't know why everyone is giving Nisbet a bad rating. She's the only prof at UBC that I've had that rocks. She actually cares about teaching, and has fun, and it shows. Her lectures were more about life and being original than the boring crap you usually hear at UBC. Expect dancing on tables from her. Definitely the most favorite prof I've had.

Nancy tries to teach digital arts, but really ends up lecturing about identity/political issues. I think she tries to use her enthusiasm & relatively easy marks to make up for her lack of knowledge in this field. She's definitely nice, but like all ubc visa profs, doesn't know how to teach art. :(

NO WONDER the digital arts department at UBC was never recongized..when the head of Digital arts sector of VISA LACK artistic/technical skills in her own area of specialization, its a clear indication that the school will never life off the ground. horrible class. nancy should not be teaching digital arts. she doesn't seem to know anything about photoshop. she lacks clarity and simply cannot teach. i was very disappointed with the course and hope to never EVER take another digital course that she teaches. im keeping my fingers crossed...

One can only appreciate Nanacy if one has the ability to think. Understanding theory is part of art not just making objects or images. This is a prof who not only understands that but can make an introductory theory course palatable. Her own art is engaging to those who have actually seen it.

I would say she's not an artist but a sociologist. Knows only a little about art and doesnt care about VISUAL at all. Disrespect to certain students. Fine art is not only about BS. Her works are too garbage that she doesnt suit to be a university professor. A disgrace to UBC fine art department.

Cares too much about her teacher's evaluations. She is just plain LAME, technical&conceptual (just look at her work, what a cheap excuse of "ART").I've seen students in her class that have works that TRUMP all her life's works combined. Take this class if you want to waste money and learn nothing.

Very nice, but too cutesy for me to consider artistic. She didn't seem to know extraordinarly much about photoshop, although she was very helpful if you talked to her. Her assignments at times seemed really useless and the readings were atrocious.
