Nancy's a tough grader. Most can't handle that. Class isn't hard. Wrote a total of 5 papers. 3 were explorations & had a min 1 pg length requirement. Next a 7-10 page portfolio, then a final portfolio 10-20 pgs. Required wkly grp meetings for peer review, but that is going away as 5th hr is no longer required. Reading sched was wonky. OK otherwise.

Nancy Pagh is one of my least favorite teachers because of her very subjective grading habits. She also hosts mandatory conferences outside of class which you attend each week. Furthermore she was very vocal about her personal convictions.

This class is for learning how to write professionally about literature, but I found the professor to be extremely unprofessional in her feedback on student work and gave unclear guidelines about what she really wants in a paper. She seems more interested in being entertained than actually teaching, and makes it difficult to muster respect for her.

Nancy is SO supportive - wow. What I most enjoyed was her insightful feedback on my drafts. Her comments challenged me, but also helped me grow and develop as a writer. I know that I am meant for creative writing after taking this class.

Nancy assigns lots of reading, but it's all really interesting. She inspires vibrant class discussion - I really looked forward to coming! Research paper at the end was pretty simple and easy to write

This was my second English class with Nancy. The majority of the class is discussion but if you do the readings you definitely don't need to go to every class: they're mainly for clarity. Make sure you read the syllabus carefully because she's not always explicit about due dates and they can sneak up on you.

I took a class with Nancy in 2017 and I think she has shifted teaching styles since some of these comments. I do not like English and didn't want to take the class but I actually kinda liked it. Nancy was super nice, understanding, and let the class choose a lot of what we'd be tested on. Fair, understanding and flexible. She was funny too!!

Nancy pulls the wool over academics. She is constantly acusing people of cheating thinks she is always right and if she dosent like you she'll give you a bad grade don't waste your time on this one

Nancy's been teaching forever at WWU, and like any person who gets too comfortable, her "teaching"--if you could call it that--leaves something to be desired. This course inspires apathy; the few who still attend class leave bored to tears. If you are a Lit major or just looking to fulfill a GUR, choose another class. There are better options.

Nancy's creative writing class can be fun, if you write by her rules. She has very specific taste which you have to abide to in order to do well. Workshops are good and study guided, but some of Nancy's feedback is vague. Still, she's a good teacher and the class was enjoyable.

There isn't much talk about what makes a "good" essay as she figures you already know. It's entirely a discussion class so it's pretty much just listening to what other people say. There are "journal posts" in which you respond to what people said in class, but only 3 of them. Your one group project pretty much defines the entire class.

If you're looking for a class that makes you a better writer or thinker this is not that class. Class discussions are superficial and never analyze in-depth. Your high school AP class did a better job. Prof only cares about her opinion and does not give good feedback on papers. On the midterm the avg score for men: C+, women: A-

Discussion based classes are not my favourite, and her class was virtually ONLY discussions. She complicates the lit and she is very ambiguous as far as what she wants you to take from each class since it's mainly students expressing themselves. If you don't want to sit and listen to people complaining incessantly then stay away.

Her tests are hard. She gives you a few questions and you have to chose 4. You cannot write on the test sheet or she will take points off. She has the class split into groups and has students meet outside of class to complete a "5th hour log". I didn't like the structure of the class and the class discussions are pointless.

Nancy is a passionate professor with a love of women's lit, which made me excited about the class from the start - however, she is ridiculously passive aggressive and a difficult grader. If exams are not written perfectly the way she expects, do not expect more than a B-/B at best. Extreme amount of work for a class that doesn't have much learning.

ENG202 wasn't that great. Nancy grades hard, meaning she tells you to be creative and then grades you down for not writing exactly like she does. Your writing will improve in some ways. Rubrics and assignments are unclear. She seems nice but is very passive aggressive. Would not take again.

She lies to her students when she says she is teaching 5 classes when really she is only teaching 3. She is also not very accessible outside of class and office hours no matter how much you tell her that you can't meet due to your work schedule.

She sucks. I will never take a class with her ever again in my time at WWU. Gives you 23 readings to study for the final exam, but only picks five. Grades your assignments with no sympathy. Passive aggressive. Unreasonable. Loves the sound of her own voice way too much.

Nancy is a passionate prof, but for creative writing it feels like you have to write strictly according to her tastes and literary values, which can feel a little stifling at times. She does provide detailed and mostly helpful feedback, and class itself was always very enjoyable. Nancy clearly loves working with students.
