Ralph Mann is the best history professor ever. He had an old style way of teaching by putting terms on the board and just lecturing all class. His study guides followed the lecture clearly. Sad to see him retire.

His lectures demonstrated not only his charisma and his inherent knowledge of history, but provided me with the most entertainment I have ever gotten out of a class. I admired how his lectures also really showed his lively personality and gave you an opportunity to know what this individual was like as a person. I am sure he'll be remembered at CU.

sad to see him retire, really one of the greatest professors I ever had. Knew the material so intimately that he was able to personally deliver a lecture every day, no power points, slide shows, or lecture notes, just him talking.

He talks, you write. That's it. Depending on how hard your TA grades your papers this might be the easiest class ever. Really funny and interesting guy to listen to, has had the same lecture notes since 1972.

Great prof. gives you terms at the beginning of classbasically telling you that is all you have to pay attention to during lecture, finishes right on time with out leaving anything out. gives you a great study guide, you dont have to do the reading but go to class and you'll get a good grade.

Made U.S. History politics seem exciting through his lectures somehow. Sometimes hard to get at what point he's driving at at times but overall one of the best teachers I've had at CU thus far

It's fairly easy as long as you take notes (bring your laptop to class!), have a friend who takes notes if you decide to miss one, and NEVER miss the class right before the exams. The TA tells you everything on what themes, ideas, concepts, etc. to focus on to do well. Mann also will curve up as long as you continue to improve on your exams!

Awesome professor, extremely intelligent. This was the most enjoyable class I've had at CU thus far. Really sucks you into his sense of what studying history is like and it becomes quite exciting. It's interesting that others found it boring, I found his classes like taking a trip to the past, despite the cliche-like sound of that phrase

Mann loves to hear himself talk. The several readers on the book list are worthless. The class was a waste of time.

A bit of a dry lecturer, but they're all packed with information. Truly emphasizes in lecture what will be important for papers and exams. Easy professor to take notes to. Would take a class from him again if given the chance.

Agree with other reviewer - this guy is very smart. You have to study for the tests to do well. The grading is pretty hard, make sure you write essays well and think of themes. I learned a lot overall.

A real genius, a little too genius. Definitely a dry lecturer and has a few ticks but he definitely is an expert on both US and Cold War history
