Dr. Shell though is very kind and caring lady isn't really the best professor for maths. Majority of the time she lectures and writes down random problems on board which can make a student bored. Many times student copy what she rights down and still can't figure how they got from A to B. Also her tests includes questions that were not on the HW.

Although she is a little quirky, Dr. Shell was a great professor. She is very passionate about the subject and is willing to spend time outside of class to help you to understand the concepts. She is very helpful one on one. The homework is all optional, however it helps a lot to keep up with it.

I suck at math, so I spent a lot of time with Dr. Shell outside of class. She's both extremely passionate about her subject and also very patient, which can be a tough combo to find. She assigns just enough homework to help you get some practice in and nothing more. While she does have her drawbacks, her care for her students outshines the rest.

Dr. Shell is a very sweet lady. However, in class, she is a terrible teacher. She is somewhat helpful outside of class, but in class, you can't understand her or follow her. I would not take her if I had the option.

Very helpful outside of class, but not very clear when lecturing. Tends to face the whiteboard when lecturing, so it is hard to hear her. Hard to take notes because she will stand in front of what she is writing and her handwriting sucks. I never had calculus before, but between the textbook and getting extra help managed to make it work.

Her passion for math is strangely...adorable? She is very eager to help, and she truly cares about her students. However, f you haven't had calculus before, I wouln't suggest taking her course. Having taken AP Calculus in highschool, the class was an easy A for me, but she moved a little too quickly for the students new to the subject.

Goes above and beyond when you ask questions at office hours. extremely helpful. Clear, though a little hard to understand. Calculus is difficult, but her tests were fair. I am not good at math and my grade reflected my understanding, but as a professor she did everything she could to help me out when I had questions.

Math for Elementary School teachers is required 4 days/week & only offered in the morning. She is unclear, repetitive, and teaches as if we were children & not future teachers. Its hard to tell what will be on a test which for an organized person is very frustrating. I would rather learn how to teach math to children than learn math like a child.

Nancy is one of the best math teachers at Furman. She is really helpful and cares about her students. She has a speech impediment and can be boring at times so it makes class tough to sit through sometimes but she is only doing it to ensure you the best chance to do well. great teacher for someone who has never had calc before.

I loved Dr. Shell. She was extremely helpful in statistics!!! She may over explain some ideas but it all just provides clarity. She is a devoted teacher and will help you after class whenever you need it. She is timid but she is an awesome teacher. Also homegirl is EASY as long as you do your work!!!

Dr. Shell is very clear, takes lots of times to do examples, and is always mentioning her office hours. When I have taken advantage of her office hours, she has sat down and worked problems with me for hours on end. She is extremely patient and wants you to succeed as a student. Exceedingly few professors are so dedicated!

nice lady tries to be helpful but poor thing she is just awful she is very disable with speech problem and apgerd syndrom has fits in class while trying to teach it was a horror no one knew what she was teaching do not take her she shouldn't be teaching.

Finite math was a very dull class and the fact the professor lectured more than taught didn't help. Not too hard if you're a math person but if math is your weakness take someone else. I did learn that a proof equals itself though...

sweet lady with many many problems that completely intefier with teaching she tries to help but it is just impossible to understand her she also has sezires in class which is scary for students to witness plus all she teaches is word problems not true finite math as the course requires don't take this teacher if you want to pass.

I don't know what the people in the previous 2 comments are talking about. She is very helpful and sweet. Yes, she has a few speaking problems, but you get used it. She'll spend as much time with you as you need. Also, she let us use notecards for everything but the first test. I had her last term. Easy A.
