I know she's retired, but I have to say... in 4 years at UW, I have never encountered such an unpleasant, unhelpful person. She was downright rude to me, on several occasions. She made me hate womens studies. She really disgusts me.

Kind woman, clearly has a passion for her work, but prattles too much about social organizing and the history of the class. material is great, textbook (compiled by her) is phenomenal, she pretty much tells you what is going to be on the very easy tests. expect to hear the same things over and over in lecture. too bad she's retiring this semester!

EXTREMELY easy - just go to lecture, memorize the handouts, and skim over the readings to get a basic idea of them. VERY feminist view of things, but still interesting. Nancy is also extremely kind.

I felt like the class was more like a history of the class and a history of what we will talk about. I also consider myself a very passionate feminist but still found the class very one-sided and did not agree with a lot of it.

This class was wonderful, content-wise. However, Nancy was one of the most frustrating professors I've ever had. Spent half the class on useless information we could have gotten from a syllabus. Corny, repetitive, and teaches as if everyone in the class is a freshman (which is good for the freshman, but not so good for everyone else.)

Take this class! It's really straightforward, fairly interesting, and easy to understand. Nancy goes through the exam layout before each one and if you study for an hour or two you'll be fine.

Great teacher, you'll get an A as long as you read and pay attention. Easy extra credit points too. TAs can be a little confusing but listen in lecture and you'll be fine

By far the best class I have ever taken. Learn more valuable information than you will from any other class. She tells you exactly what will be on the exam.

Easy A. Nancy can be too much at times, but most of the material is interesting. All you have to do is skim the articles and look at lecture notes before a test and you're golden.

great class. It's pretty easy and the prof is one sided, but there's still a lot of good information. the readings are long and get boring, but they still show up on the test. this classes is all about women's bodies and it's good for anyone to take.

Nancy is extremely one sided and biased about pretty much everything she says. I took this class only for the science and disagreed with her about pretty much everything else she said. The tests are easy because in lecture she tells you everything that is going to be on them and you just have to skim the articles a few days before the test.

Some lectures were amazing and really thought provoking, yet others were very boring. It is not necessary to do all of the reading, get the main points and you will be fine. That's what I did and I easily got an A. Make sure you know the science well, because that can get you on tests. Also, the papers really make a difference, START EARLY!

Nancy is a great lecturer! I learned SO MUCH in this class! There are a TON of (boring) readings, and 3 REEEEALLY long (but relatively easy) tests. My TA, Hannah, was the BEST TA I've ever had and she played a huge part in why I liked the class so much! 2 really short, easy papers and LOTS of extra credit opportunities! Class is highly recommended!

Nancy is an awesome professor! You learn a lot in the class and you really should do the readings but they're very interesting so it's not too bad. The TA's grade the papers a little hard compared to the exams which are verrrryyyy easy. Very good science course for nonscience people. Easy A.

I also really enjoyed this class. Nancy really knows what she is talking about and makes the class interested in the material. As far as papers/exams, there isn't too much work; two exams, two papers and a final. Overall, I would say this class is an easier science credit for non-science oriented students.

I really enjoyed Nancy's class. I learned things about my body I was ashamed I didn't already know. This class should be required. I only had one occassion to go to Nancy's office to talk to her and she was extremely nice to me and really made me feel comfortable.

Everyone should take this class. Yes, she is biased, but she has good reason to be. I think the people who gave her bad ratings are just upset because she disrupted their small-minded worldviews. If you are willing to open your eyes to the injustices in this world, take this class...it is phenomenal.

very judgemental against people who are not like her. hard to get in touch with. really outrageously rude when i went to see her outside of class. her attitude and treatment/lack of respect for students and her TAs really turned me off to the subject.
