I loved taking French with Masagara. He's a great teacher and obviously cares very much about his students succeeding in his class. He really tried his best to make sure everyone understood the information. I would take another class with him in a heartbeat.

Comment:

It's been 3 years since I've had Dr. Masagara as a French prof but he leaves a lasting impression since most of the good ones do! Dr Masagara will teach you French really well and tell you great stories. Always try to be engaged, do your homework, and arrive on time. He's appreciates a thoughtful and hardworking student! (Duh) He is a real gem!!

Sometimes he is not easy to understand. He tries to relate as much as he can to English to make it easier to understand. Very easy going and loves to tell jokes. Go to his office because the 1 on 1 time really helps. Great prof and glad I have him again next semester. My only complaint is that I just seem incapable of learning this language.

Easy to get along with though can be hard to understand. English clearly isn't his first language. I haven't had a language before, and he acts like everyone had at least a year or two in high school so it's harder. Not a bad guy but doesn't explain very well so I had to get a tutor. Easy going, thinks he's funny, you have to study and do the work.

He is an AWFUL professor. I will never take a class from him again. He never responds to emails and is hard to understand. He doesn't prepare you for tests and assumes you aren't reading the book if you're confused. I'd drop the class if I could. Beware

He is a nice guy, but he is VERY difficult to understand. I would consider taking him again, but probably would opt for a different instructor if possible. tests are VERY difficult. Willing to help you, but often just assumes you are not doing the work if you don't understand something. He is very knowledgeable but it's hard to understand him.

Best. Teacher. Ever. He is extremely nice and one of the greatest people I know. He teaches you so much, but only if you're willing. Some people don't put the effort in and that's why they blame the teacher. In reality, he's there to offer help if needed. Hos accent is so cute and he's hilarious!

I like him! He's enthusiastic about his students learning and grasping the language. He has high expectations and wants u to gain some knowledge from the class. Attendance is mandatory b/c he gives handouts and reviews and is open to questions. He's actually pretty funny, the only reason ppl dislike him is if they flunked the class.

Watch out! Completely biased against the people with the same skin color (white) of the folks that forced French on his people (black). Completely abused his power as an instructor to try to destroy anyone that dared resist his obvious bias in the classroom. Tried to prevent my friend from graduating. I quit going and delayed my graduation. FAIL.

He is a very respectable teacher here at YSU and gives humor and life lessons in each class. He is very worldy and knows a lot about French & the French cultures. He is truly amazing! Love him! TIP: If have a special request (ie. you need to turn in an assignment later, discuss an answer on the test) do it PRIVATELY with him. He appreciates this.

I was in the first Swahili course at YSU. Getting used to his teaching style was an adjustment, but you learn a lot more than just the language in his class. Definately would suggest anyone with any interest in langauges take it. Warning: not an automatic 'A.' Swahili grammar is not easy!

I don't know how he can be called rude - he's one of the best teachers I've had at YSU. Teaches anything you are having trouble with until you understand it. Very entertaining as well - ask him to sing you a song in Swahili. Drinks a lot of Coke.

I just could not understand what he was saying. His grading isn't bad, and he wants you to do well. Class can be frustrating sometimes when you cannot understand what he is saying. He shows videos from the early 1980s.
