This man never thinks he's wrong... He goes by the book and gets mad when you ask a question. He makes kids look stupid in front of everyone when most the time he's making stuff up

Dr. Shi's tests were really easy and he curved them quite a bit if needed, his accent and culture may be a little hard to get past though.

hes a nice guy but not a good teacher at all. messes up questions and answers and questions on home work, tests, and answer sheets. Hard to understand and if you dont get something he tells you to do your homework. Also not a consistent grader. (somethings right on your fellow students test but wrong on yours)

He is a nice guy but just isn't my ideal image of a teacher. He makes the tests and quizzes too long. He spends too much time on proofs rather than practical use of the theorems. Finally, whenever people don't understand something or do poorly, he says they should be doing their homework. How can they do the homework if they don't the material?

If you pay attention and care about the class, this professor is great. I find that his accent makes the class more fun and he tends to make funny, random jokes. Once you learn his accent and how he pronounces things, he can be the best professor of mathematics. In his words, "Plug I ian!" That was him saying "Plug it in," lmao, fun course.

Lectures only made you confused and frustrated. Would only teach examples already in the textbook then give harder examples and say "left to you" or "exercise". Homework was nothing like class examples. Despite the lectures, tests and quizzes tended to be easier, but it was a struggle. Thought Discrete Math was hilarious and laughed constantly.

Well... if you want to take a professor who just stands at the board and goes over the book verbatim, then take Dr. Shi. His examples suck... he can hardly speak English... he's a horrible professor. I don't know why he's still teaching. I didnt' learn anything in his class and will have to teach myself over the summer.

Chose a second class with Shi. Very good attitude, loves teaching. STRONG accent. Don't take him if math is a weakness, he is difficult to understand verbally. But he is very helpful and will take office time to help lead you in the right direction - of course he won't give u the whole answer, he wants you to learn it for yourself, not regurgitate.

I am a minority student myself and am not at all opposed to people of different ethnicities. But this is where I draw the line. His accent and speedy speech render it near impossible to learn anything from his class. Avoid at all costs unless you are extremely able to learn from books.

Counfounding lectures straight from the text delivered in rapidly spoken, incomprehensible "English". When I sought help with a specific question during his posted office hours he basically ignored my question and told me "do homework twice" in a clipped, dismissive manner. In short, I challenge anyone to find a worse example of an "educator".

Lectures given straight from the text in confounding, unintelligible "English". When I went to him with specific questions during his office hours he told me to "do homework twice" in a clipped and annoyed tone. He has given several other students the same useless advice. I challenge anyone to find a worse example of an educator.

Extremely intelligent, tries to be funny at times. Teaches directly from text. Accent can be difficult at first, but you get used to it. Always makes himself available. Gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit. I would take him again.

He says everything is elementary, no matter how difficult it is. Very hard to understand, but he is a hoot once he thinks something is funny. He laughs at himself all the time. If not your not able to learn math on ur own, would advise not taking him.
