He is not P.C, his mind set is stuck in the 1940's. He has a hard time pronouncing and remembering students names from diverse backgrounds. He was Not meant to teach. He is knowledgeable but unable to relate any information to his students. This class is what you'd expect from an older professor.

Took this class and in the beginning it was veryyyy boring ... went over basics way too long. When it came time to teach the *real* material, 3/4 of the semester had finished! The midterm was announced 1 week before - when it was schedule in a month! The grading sucks! However he seems to be a nice teacher and good for the undergrad courses *only*!

Comment:

Took him in Fall '04. It was the most horrible experience ever. He is old and does not remember clearly the subject. The programming assignments were in FORTRAN. Had they been in MATLAB, the class would have been much easier. I had to find other sources for learning the subject! Got an A- finally.

I have taken 4 classes from this guy. In undergrad he was easy but had no idea what was going on in his Windows Programming class. His graduate Numerical Analysis class was insane. He even admitted to not being able to solve some of the problems he had on previous tests! He gave an enourmous amount of C's and D's unfairly in my opinion. Avoid him!

Dr. Johnson has well prepared lectures, and great ideas for projects and tests. He is willing to help and even answers ridiculous questions with patience. I recommend taking this class from him. He is one of the few good professors in this department.
