Taiwo is a wonderful and inspiring professor. He makes an effort not to be intimidating, and cares enormously for his students. He always made me feel welcome to speak with him one-on-one if I needed help, or if I just wanted to talk about anything related to current issues surrounding the subject matter. This class really changed my perspective.

Taiwo doesnt do a good job teaching intro level. He says otherwise, but he is rigid, not very clear, and a hard grader. You will get by if you do readings and SPEAK UP IN CLASS. but i really feel i didnt get ANYTHING from this course. have a new teacher w PHIL 220 now, love it!! Taiwo made me dislike philosophy. He should teach upper levels only.

No doubt about it, Taiwo's class is hard. However, he is very willing to help you figure out what to write your papers on and what his prompts mean. If you know how to write a good paper, you're going to get an A (I did). If not, I recommend going to the writing center for help. Overall, I didn't learn much of anything except how to push myself.

Fantastic professor, and the only one I've found at SU who really pushes you to think if you are willing to go the extra mile. Wants you to be able to learn how to think on your own. He's challenging and has high expectations, because he wants to ensure his students integrity in their work. Wants you to be able to argue for what you believe.

Nice man with interesting Nigerian culture. Sometimes difficult to understand. I did not enjoy this class because I did not feel comfortable raising my hand in fear of being ridiculed. The material is tough to understand and his standards are super high.

Taiwo cares about your investment in the class and if you are not sincerely interested and attentive (doing the reading) he can tell and will be disappointed. He knows if you're bullsh***ng (especially on papers). Go to class, interact with him, do the reading, and be sincere in your writing. If you don't have the time for that, avoid his class.

Taiwo is friendly, but I could never really understand what he was talking about. I managed to get an a but only because I know how to write research papers, lots of people got c's. Your grade is pretty much based off the papers so write them well!

Taiwo is a very hard grader and his lectures are pretty dull most of the time unless he is talking about himself and his culture. He is a fascinating and adorable man, but I dread going to his class. Your grade is based completely on papers for the most part. So if you are very good at writing it might be a great class for you. Otherwise, beware!

FASCINATING perspective! He will challenge what you believe about Africa and race, in a very unexpected way. Incredibly intelligent man. Not good at communicating clearly. Very high and unreasonable standards. Take his class. But, you're only likely to succeed if you a. agree with him or b. change his stubborn mind.

very good professor. requires a lot of work. the comments suggesting that students must conform to his way of thinking in order to succeed is false. i took several classes from prof taiwo and im confident that he and i disagreed on most issues. Nevertheless, I did well in his class.

Don't take his class unless you are prepared to agree with everything that he says. He is the type of professor that tells you what is right and what is wrong and there is really no room for discussion. I was lucky in that I ended up agreeing with the majority of what he had to say, but I didn't spend thousands to learn solely about his opinions.

The hardest professor ever! Don't take him. He teaches an introductory level class and expects the students to be geniuses in philosophy. I made the biggest mistake by choosing him. He screwed my GPA.

Brilliant mind. Makes philosophy easy to understand by comparing to real life examples. I liked his tangents especially but he likes to talk about himself a lot. VERY DIFFICULT essay grader and expect to read A LOT for his class! Self-motivated class. If you're lazy, you will not get the most out of it.

Apparently doesn't understand that he's teaching a 110 class. He assigns huge reading assignments, and doesn't give you much time for papers. My time would've been better spent watching TV. At least then you occasionally learn something. I left this class dreading the fact that i still have to take another philosophy.

He makes you work. It's as simple as that. He assigns long readings and essays in short periods of time, but if you manage your time and classes well they're not impossible tasks. Some of the readings don't make sense, but he does a good job explaining them if you ask. You don't get anything easy in the class, but it's rewarding.

I went into this class wanting to like him and enjoy his class. Unfortunately, this was not the case. He takes things incredibly personally. He says he respects your opinion, but believe me, this is A LIE. If you are prepared to sacrifice your own views for his, then go ahead, take him. If you want to get an A while retaining your dignity, don't.
