He does not know how to teach, DO NOT TAKE HIM, unless you are a big political science nerd. Even so, you might just get a B-. He constantly goes off topic, and is not very clear on what we should be doing in class. Even his syllabus is complicated to understand. You also have to buy a lot of books for NO REASON. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Unclear class note+ boring and hard lecture.......but he is a nice guy. If you want to take this course， make sure you have a very high grade on US history or AP government. If your are immigrant，this course is not the right course for you. Because his course is based on understanding rather than just reading and class note.

To start the way he teaches the course is not for a 100 course. He should not teach intro level courses. You walk in blindly to the tests. All of the readings are used on the tests and he doesnt go into that great of detail. He is not a good teacher and he tries to instill his views into you. DO NOT TAKE

Omg so much readings. I wouldn't recommend him if political science isn't your strong course. He is so boring, but the information he gives is very important. He does have some self stories which I like but when he starts talking about the general idea and when he analyzes it is just mind numbing. He let's you record his lecture but you need to take notes. He dosnt care if you come late, but if you do you will miss some crucial info and for the midterm you will be screwed.

intelligent and interesting man. explains readings in class, so reading every little article is not necessary.not really welcoming in discussions in class, and if you dont say exactly what he wants, he will cut you off. not very helpful during office hours, although he is available.

i do not recommend ... very hard... assigns five books, and you must read to do well ... the midterm has questions based on how much you read. skips all over the place. didnt feel like a 101 class, felt more like a 301 class. it was not an easy class. intro classes shud be easier than this one was. i do not recommend. smart guy but boring and hard!

well for a 100 course i though it wasn't easy. If you take very good notes like i did, and just retention it in the Exam you will get at least a B+, you have to be a democrat and love democrats or at least try just for this class, it was not hard for me because i agreed with him

Great professor enjoyed the lectures. Truly a man that knows what he teaches not from books but from life experience... Would highly recommend to anyone interested in Government. Only had to do midterm and final and also did 2, 3 minute speeches on the books we read...

This professor is a fair grader he's well informed and very helpful. Do your part in his class and he'll take care of the rest. I took his class at night so sometimes it can be a bit of a drag since he likes to talk a lot but like I said just listen to him, take notes and you'll do fine.

Nice man, but not my personal pick. Tends to drone on and off topic, and usually ignores raised hands and will talk over you. Five books which will be discussed and used on exams. Show up often, and make sure to take notes, because you can easily use everything you ever learned on the exams. Two exams which are composed of essays. No papers.

In terms of political science with regard to teaching American Politics and Government in terms of Mr. Oneil using those two phrases ridiculously often even-no, especially- when they don't make sense, he can be a little verbose. but hes a sweetheart. he does, however, expect everyone to memorize the entire god-awful textbook.
