You will have around five papers during her class, show up as much as you can so you exactly what you are doing and get feedback. She is really hilarious and sometime goes off on tangents on off topics but it really makes her discussion interesting. Do all the peer reviews for they take up a good section of your grade.

The grades are all defined by your essays. Class is usually boring and she's kinda boring too, but it's not a hard class. She is nice and you can go talk to her whenever.

Seemed like my grade was chosen before I did anything because no matter what effort I put forth I got the same B+ score. I believe it is very difficult to get an A in the class. 4 papers and a Group presentation Not a difficult class, just a difficult prof.

Dr. Carlson Knows her science fiction, and every class discussion brings out a new perspective you wouldn't have noticed on your own. In the office on Sunday and always willing to talk to you. She isn't afraid to speak her mind and some of her comments made me die. Detailed feedback on papers. That being said, HARD to get an A (but an easy B or B+)

There's only three papers and a few tests. The main workload is reading and discussion, but it's all good reading.

Worst teacher I've ever had. She doesn't know what she's talking about in class (keeps saying the wrong due dates) Not helpful at all. Give students tons of homework (think we're all going to major in English or something?) Don't take her class if you have a choice

Excellent! Always excited about the content. Also very witty. Extremely intelligent prof who wants the class to learn. Does not have favorites. Take this class for a very grounded approach to science friction. I loved all the reading. I loved the way she weaves contemporary issues into the class. Also, she keeps the geeks from dominating.

Wow!!! This class is the best keep secret at Rose. I rated her as easy, but still you have to do the work. It's just that the reading is fun. This course is in high demand -- if you are a senior you can probably get in.

DONT BUY THE TEXTBOOK. when she asks you to bring it to class (a total of 3 times) just borrow it from someone else, trust me, its a waste of $. her class is not difficult. it was easier than the ap lit class i took in hs. if you suck at writing, then dont expect to learn how to write or get As on them. if your a good writer, then you'll be fine.

If you are a guy in her class, beware. She is a total feminist and that is how she teaches her class. You write four papers and instead of working on writing you just get culture and social lessons and then write about them. If you aren't an excellent writer already, avoid her class!
