I'm writing this day before the midterm because I just want to say he is an amazing guy and professor. My grade will probably go down after tomorrow but he is SO kind and so heartwarming and genuinely just wants you to do well. A friend and I emailed him saying we felt overwhelmed and he made jokes but was helpful and gave us hints and I LOVE HIM

the sweetest professor. truly cares and is extremely nice. he genuinely cares about your wellbeing and is willing to work with you through any problems. one time he spent an hour after class teaching a few students poetry. took him in conjunction with another professor and he was respectful of her, but he got trampled on. he's a snack.

Douglas is a pretty chill dude. His online quizzes are easy if you read the book. DO NOT BUY ANY BOOKS FOR THIS CLASS. ALL the BOOKS ARE ONLINE!! Even though I don't recommend this, you can get with a group and do the quizzes together.

Great class in that Douglass is trying to learn about novels he teaches, too, with the class's feedback on those novels. Only challenge is the midterm. Everything else is straightforward: attend class, participate, write the required paper-assignments, and write a final paper on a topic of your choice.

I absolutely loved having Paul Douglass as a teacher. His class is so relaxed and he is a very welcoming person. On the last day of class he even brought in food for the whole class!

Had him a year ago. He's an amazing professor. The most caring, open minded person I've had the pleasure of taking a course with. Highly recommend this class if you're lucky enough to get in. You must LOVE reading classics and writing extensively. If you do, you will not mind the hard work that's required for this class.

This class is more confusing than it should have been. Some interesting stuff but focused entirely on British Romanticism. Some of the reading were very very dense and confusing.

So good. Seriously. There are other good Profs out there, but don't hesitate to take his classes. You will read your butt off, but hey, you're an Eng major. Really an excellent professor.

Prof. Douglass is truly brilliant. He's a humble genius and a caring professor. He is more of an artist than a teacher--which makes him the most valuable kind of educator.

Professor Douglass is the BEST person to take 193 with because it doesn't even seem like a class at all! He cares about your individuality and the assignments were pretty easy and actually enjoyable. He spread out the workload too and would keep you updated daily on the when assignments were to be due. GREAT professor!

A very good 100W professor. One of the very few who incorporates a graphic novel into the curriculum, which was very fun and insightful. The theme of Crime Fiction for the class is a fun one to work with. Knowledgeable with poetry, which is a must for this class.

His book discussing Henri Bergson's influence on Faulkner is actually a very good read. I wish he would teach an entire course on Faulkner -- it would be tremendous. Thoughtful comments both in class discussion and in reviewing essays.

Much of the reading for this class was dull, but Douglass was great. I learned a lot and my writing improved because of the personal attention he was willing to give.

Good looking and intelligent. His lectures are informative. He does not have the usual pretentious English Dept attitude. Loved the creative freedom in his class.
