Dr. Irwin is an incredibly intelligent man that was once probably a great teacher; the years have soured him like milk and left many of his students queasy. He is not a bad person, but his arrogance and harsh grading criteria have spoiled my opinion of him. But need for perfect handwriting and a superlative "neatness" on homework is unreasonable...

okay where do i start ? This professor is the worst professor you will ever get in your life. I mean it. He is rude, insensitive, disrespectful, condescending, annoying, insulting, and most importantly, if you dont understand something he doesn't let you ask as much as you want in class. He believes that he can't slow down the class for someone.

As a person he is easy to get along with. But he is too smart for the 100 level math class and that makes it difficult to keep up. Derive is also a useless computer application he uses. it is not even used in the final.

You will work hard, you will be scared to talk to him at times, you will feel stressed before exams, and you will be glad the class is over. HOWEVER, if you do your work, the materials will stay with you forever. Thus, taking Dr. Irwin for lower level math is essential if you wanna minor/major.

Beware of signing up for his classes! He has very strict course structure & policies, including daily homework, perfect attendance and impossibly long exams. Most of these policies increase stress rather than enhance learning. He is a dedicated teacher and helps out during office hours. But, he needs to present the concepts in a more accessible way

The man is the worst professor I have ever had. He refuses to help his students and makes it a point to force them to feel inadequate about themselves. He makes you hate the course you are in every second of the day. His exams are impossibly hard due to his long and confusing notes that are never printed or electronically accessible. Avoid him.

He was a really good professor. Although it was hard to get him to explain things in multiple ways during class, he would bend over backwards to make you understand if you went to his office hours. He likes to use props for some more abstract ideas, which I thought was cool. Don't expect to slack off in the class. And don't miss any classes!
