Kidder is awesome and is actually enthusiastic about philosophy which helps the class go along. He can be a but picky for tests, especially when he leaves the questions open-ended.

Don't worry about memorizing the content in the readings; he's more concerned with your general understanding of the subject and its application to life. He's available through email for help outside of class/office hours--super helpful!

Dr. Kidder is wonderful. I learned so much in his class, and he's especially helpful in office hours. There is hardly any work for the class throughout the quarter, but the final is pretty hefty (an oral exam and a 10 page paper) and is like 45% of your grade or something. That caught me off guard and brought down my grade, so be prepared.

GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. Good class, but he is even better in a one on one situation.

Dr. Kidder was amazing for honors. I enjoyed going to class (the right mixture of him talking and us discussing). Only had to write four papers and no exams. Very helpful and organized. Highly recommended!

I had Dr. Kidder for honors and he was amazing. He's really good at breaking down the reading and allowing the class to be a part of the discussion and learning environment. Good for students who are self-motivated.

I actually really enjoyed Kidder's class & I hate philosophy. He made it somewhat fun & interesting. Mostly papers & not all the reading assignments are necessary. I'd say it was about as good as a philosophy class can get!

Class was long and boring but he tries to be funny. TRIES. The assignments and exams are writing-intensive, but really not that bad if you keep up with the material. Beware though, you will read about 4-7 books for this class. And yes, you will real ALL of them.

If you're really about class discussions and just bouncing ideas off your classmates...Kidder is the guy for you. He is one of the most Socratic teachers I've ever had. A lot of people in my class were not such a fan of him but I really really enjoyed the class. He was very helpful outside of class and really found a way to help students out.

His lectures are useless. It will put you into sleep in 2 minutes. Requires to buy 7 books in this class. And makes you read text that you don't get tested on. So don't even buy those. But he probably takes attendance.

Kidder was great! I can't understand why there are so many negative reviews here. He got me very interested in the material. He was very approachable and helpful. He has a very interesting way of speaking and comes off as delightfully eccentric. He has my reccomendation!

Very easygoing professor, cares much more about learning and discussion than following a syllabus. Essays are a little bit strange since there aren't any prompts.

This class was one of the worst I have taken at SU. Memorizing facts about dead philosophers doesn't help me learn business ethics.
