Comment:
Don't be the person who cries about his final being "unfair". It's open book Bc he focuses more on how you are able to think like a lawyer than on the actual law. When you start to approach the law differently, you'll want to thank him! Internalize the advice he gives to "think of the bigger picture"

Professor Lewis is knowledgeable about current and traditional trends in property law. His class is lecture heavy, but if you attend his office hours (and ask very specific questions), he is always willing to try to explain things differently.

Decent. Our exam was all multiple choice and so was the midterm which was tough but not horrible. His lectures can run long but he tries to be clear about what he expects. Do all the reading as he calls on people for in-depth questions on the cases. Had to learn a lot of the material on my own before the exam as he pushes through things really fast

Property is hard by itself. You will NEED to see Lewis on his office hours to clarify on some things, but make sure you know what your asking before you meet him. He is a very busy man and does not have much time to waste if you are not prepare. But all and all, he is a alright.

Is Property hard? Yes. Is Property hard with Lewis? No. He was my favorite professor. Those who don't do well simply stress themselves trying to master each topic (which is impossible in a single semester). The subject matter is very dense and abstract, just learn how he questions each topic. He usually gives hypo's that will demonstrate this.

Agree with the previous ratings. Definitely go to class, read the book and get a supp! Property can get confusing at times. Start outlining early in the semester... there's a lot of info!

This guy is extremely intelligent. The propblem is that he is never in his office during office hours. He doesnt make himself available to students, and then goes out of the country right before the final. If you take Lewis, GO TO EVERY CLASS!

JMLS gem. If you are lazy and expect to do well without trying in law school, do not take this professor. If you think you can b.s. your way through an answer, he will not entertain your ego. You truly earn your grades in his class, and it's great to see the "know-it all" types kicked to the curb and the quiet, authentically smart students succeed.

Lewis is scary. But don't be fooled. Property is dry material and he seems disinterested in keeping your attention. However, a post semester test review proved me wrong on a lot of fronts - he told me that he wishes more students would come to his office hours with questions and recognized that he comes off as terrifying. Willing to help!

Possibily the best professor at John Marshall. The class is not easy but he's very clear and willing to explain. The open book/open note test is fair and predictable. If you don't do well in his class, the problem doesn't lie with him.

Possess an excessive self-assurance and a tendency toward an exaggerated self-reference. Neutral and friendly actions of others are often misinterpreted by him as being hostile, reads hidden demeaning or threatening meanings into benign remarks or events. Persistently bears grudges.

He is so much smarter than everyone else on Earth. And he let's you know it in really subtle ways. But it is because he is so damn briliant and so unapologetic about it that endears him to me. I feel very fortunate to have had him for property and I will take him again if I possibly can.

Very interesting insights in his Bankruptcy class when he told us about one nasty tactic collection agencies use when soliciting postdated checks with the intent to threaten to expose people to criminal charges, or soliciting postdated checks and then threatening to deposit them early.

He a super-genius: one day he lectured how forged currency is a parody: it apes, as it were, real currency, rendering it ridiculous in the same way as an ape imitating a man makes fun of him. But you cannot make fun of symbolic guarantees with impunity: not only economic values but equally ethical and juridical values soon appear as suspicious.

Would give students an assignment and then when they check regarding progress, he would blithely say, "Oh that. We're not doing that anymore. Didn't I tell you?" He will also run "hot and cold" รข€" being friendly and supportive one minute, and distant or curt the next, with the effect of keeping others in a state of perpetual imbalance.

He told us that it's okay that law school is designed to break people, to be experienced as a trauma, an assault. According to him, law school should be meant to crush your spirit and turn you into an amoral human being.

I am going to take Property from Lewis in the fall semester. Without even sitting in his class, I know that he will be a better, more fair-minded, unpretentious professor compared to a certain professor at JMLS who posesses little of the first two qualities above and too much of the last quality. You know who I am talking about!
