Comment:
Prof. Nye's grip on the subject, ability to engage students in class, and ability to comprehend a question (let alone answer it) are extremely poor. His classes are extremely boring and his manner is soporific. In assessing exams, his over-reliance on RULES may make a student think that issue-spotting and application are unimportant skills. Run!

If you want a professor who knows a lot, Nye is it. If you want a professor who gives a fair exam, Nye is it. If you want a professor who cannot hear you speak in class, makes you stand up in class to recite a case, and spend his exam review session sitting and looking at the class instead of reviewing the course, Nye is it.

Alright, yes he is old and he certainly is mean. However, his class is not difficult because he tells you want he wants to see on the final. The book he uses (and wrote..) is really solid, and helps you to understand what can be some pretty annoying topics. He doesn't necessarily listen to you when you brief your cases, but who cares? Not me.

(K 2 review) AVOID AVOID!!! Oh, and AVOID! Horrible, outdated, incomprehensible, etc. He (LITERALLY) gives the same exam EVERY SEMESTER! Everyone in my class had all the briefs and new the final exam before the class started!! He makes you stand to give briefs--but he doesnt pay attention and students OFTEN give wrong info w/out correction

Well meaning guy but maybe too old to keep teaching this complicated subject. Forgets what people say, mistakes what people say, assigns too much reading. 12 cases per week plus random emails during the week with more stuff to read that seems completely irrelevant. What's on the final? LOL, I don't think he even knows.

Professor Nye truthfully believes that he is the second coming of Christ in the form of a schizophrenic Contracts teacher. He was obviously bullied as a child and clearly entered the teaching field with the motivation of extracting revenge on unsuspecting 1 L's. Professor Nye = :(

Professor Nye is pretty old but it doesn't matter, he wants you to learn and you will if you do exactly as he says. The exam is rigorous, his multiple choice is an obstacle course, but he does tell you it's more info than you can cover. Definitely work on the practice essay question before the exam, b/c it's probably on the exam.

Nye is a good man who happens to teach contracts, which is by itself a dryer although ESSENTIAL topic. Nye was responsive to my difficulties when the administration at JMLS was not at all helpful :) Nye is trying to motivate his students--look past the hard edge, he's a great guy.Know your rules and the basics of contract formation, it's all up hil

The class will spend the first six weeks on the parol evidence rule and ONLY ONE question on the final will cover that topic. The worst exam that I have ever taken...completely unexpected! Time to retire, pal!

He is a tough professor, but you learn alot. When it camr time for the final, i felt confident and prepared. There is nothing surprising on the final. He will drill the concepts you MUST know into your head if you are paying attention.

class prep took a crazy amount of time for me, but the final was pretty fair except that we found out afterwards that one of his essays was thrown in because he thought we were taking another class concurrently - but we weren't, we are taking that class now.

Nye is a very complex teacher to understand. He is also very confusing. I had to teach myself. He was just mad the whole time. Like he was pissed at us for not learning when we were pissed at him for not teaching. Hint: He tends to attack people who are not loud and sure, despite what their answer is.

Professor Nye's class is indeed tough and does take a lot of preparation. However, he is fair and does teach you quite a bit in spite of yourself. The final is a breeze if you've taken his advice and focused on the Rules of Law that he drills into you throughout the semester.

You will never spend more time preparing for a class as you do this one. Also, do not expect to answer him correctly even if your answer was 100% correct because he will still say you are wrong and then say that the next person is right when they aswered the exact way you did. However, the exam is fair.

Nye sucks. This was the single worst-taught class of my JMLS career. He covers everything BUT the topics that will make up 3/4 of the final. Stay away!

Good professor - very old school. Demands a lot from his students in class. Wish we would have spent more time on third-party beneficiaries in class, as this was a big part of the exam. That's my only complaint, though - all in all, Nye's an effective professor.
