Nice guy, but blind as a bat and deaf as a post. He can keep track of whether you have given a presentation in class because he can't see you. How can he possibly grade you? Steer clear.

Do not ever take him. He is too old! He doesn't know where he is and nothing you do in class is on the exam!

I also just took his exam and am on the Dean's list. I thought it wasn't bad at all. People have artificially low expectations and discount him so much that they end up suffering. I found him more lucid than some of the "sharper" professors I've had. He doesn't try to confuse students, though his memory falters at times, he teaches very well.

Oh Ronnie Smith...there was a time when I'm sure he was a dashing young prosecutor. But our parents were not born yet. He is a nice guy, means well, but he just gets so far off course it's ridiculous. But crim law is easy to learn on your own. Follow the advice below for the supplements and hope that not too many other people do the same...ha.

MC final was harder then expected but gives examples of questions. Smith was humorous at time but also got off track sometimes. Smith is very helpful outside of class.

Get Glannon's Crim Law and LEXIS's Crim Law Q&A. Pay attention to what he says, but don't bother taking notes. Just digest. He's experienced, but generally ineffective. Could be a lot worse. You could be in a Kandaras class.

So Boring. Waste of time to go to class. Talks about the RICO statute for 5 weeks and it isn't on the final. Too old to teach. Terrible teacher.

Well, I can count on one hand the number of times that the guy showed up to class less than 10 minutes late. Also, you feel like you are learning nothing, but then toward the end it all seems to come together and make sence. The difficulty of the exam is comparable to Prof Hopkins' tort exam.

I liked Smith. Great stories and very funny. A bit on the disorganized side, but the material is not that tough.

*snore* Oh, I'm sorry, were you asking me something? I was too busy falling asleep in Criminal Law. Yes, it is a lot like your Grandpa teaching you Criminal Law. But if I wanted that, I would ask my Grandpa to teach me Criminal Law.

He is a very nice man but makes the material a lot more confusing than need be. Criminal Law is the easiest class you will take first semester but if you take it from Smith it will seems like the most difficult. If he continues to have 75% of the final be based on multiple choice GET OUT ASAP.

Old school Chicago-style. 1Ls watch out, on your first class he'll keep you there all day and all night until somebody speaks up and asks for the class to be dismissed. Know the rules and you'll do fine.
