She is an extremely tough grader. The class itself was pretty easy and relaxed and was extremely surprised after the first assignment was graded and no one received a grade higher than a C+. I just recommend not taking this class at all, you are better off finding another class.

For this course, one class of the week is spent watching a movie and the other class is spent discussing/re-watching clips of it. She's super passionate about film and makes the conversations funny and interesting. She also usually let us leave early.

I took a "gender stereotypes" course that she taught. Some of the reviews say that she is a harsh grader, but, if you put in effort, she will give you a good grade. She is absolutely hysterical and a really entertaining teacher. The midterm and final were 3 essays each, so that was a lot of writing, but nothing unbearable. Would take again!!

Dr. Uruburu is a smart, funny woman. Every Tuesday is lecture day and every Thursday is film day(which is why the class is 2 hours long). On lecture day she sometimes lets us go 30 min early. Your grade comes from 2 papers, a take-home midterm and a take-home final, all involving the films we see in class. Definitely recommend her.

Professor Uruburu is one of the best I have taken at Hofstra. I took her screenwriting class on horror and loved every minute of it. She even invited us to her house for a class party. She's very informative and give greats insight.

Dr. Uruburu is the best professor I've had at Hofstra so far. Her classes are so much fun and she is one of the funniest people I've ever met before. The entire class had fun during each lecture and the class dynamic was amazing. Warning: She can be a tough grader when she does give work. You have to take at least one class with this professor!

She's an amazing person and really funny. You will never stop laughing in class, midterm and final both take home and one paper. Be careful, I didn't take her as a grader with high expectations but she deff is. Worked really hard on an optional extra credit paper and only got a B- . Take the time with her work and you'll done fine she's awesome!

LOVEEE HER!! She is so sweet and hilarious! she makes class so entertaining and funny and has a great choice in movies I loved them all! Her tests are long but not so hard! Between undergrad and grad I took 12 credits with Paula. She is the most amazing teacher. She knows so much it's incredible. She is very modest and she really loved my writing. I had poetry in the school's literary magazine and she asked me for more poetry to send to a friend of hers that's a published poet. I thought that was very cool.
