This teacher was very friendly and knew his subject well. He can be a bit scattered but our class pulled together as a group and we all did fine. The homework can be time consuming but the tests cover the information from the assignments so there were no surprises.

Professor Grosse is a very smart and eccentric man; he genuinely cares for his students, and is extremely passionate about the material he teaches. He often goes on tangents and it can seem very boring, but if you keep up, you'll be fine. Pretty easy grader, one midterm and one final - both long essays. Be ready to stay awake!

Poor lecture skills. No power points, writes everything down on whiteboard which is hard to read cuz of his handwriting. Homework were tough because there's so many questions and they take about 3+ hours. A ton of reading and each chapter be 30+ pages. Study guides were useless, never similar to the tests. Horrible, I do not recommend.

Homework assignments are due every two weeks but the most questions we've had on a homework was around 17-18. Which if you split it between the two weeks you get to do it shouldn't be a problem. Sometimes if we need it he gives us an extra day or the weekend to finish a homework. You have to actually read the book though which should be obvious

Professor Grosse is a trip! His lectures are long and he tends to go off topic but, you can tell he loves his job. He loves class participation. The homework assignments are very long but, he is an easy grader and as long as you do your work, you will get a good grade. I would take him again if I ever need another Philosophy course.

Homework and reading take forever. Homework is due every 2 weeks. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MIND TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! It took me normally 3-6 hours per assignment. Each exam is accompanied by an essay typed due the day of the exam. Doesn't grade to hard. DO THE READING. Lectures hard to follow if you don't read before class. ASK QUESTIONS!!!!!!!

He is so adorable in his array of suits and little hats! However, sometimes it can be hard to follow him. On the other hand, he will (re) explain any topic if you don't understand. There is a lot of reading and tests are a sort of difficult. But, he gives many extra credit assignments and grades very easily. Good teacher overall.

The College is not treating him fair by giving him an 8:00 am Philosophy class, but he is a solid teacher. True passion and will go out of his way to give extra help.

This class was ridiculously boring. The homework assignments were extremely time consuming. He is lenient with his grading and seems to be a nice guy, but no one in the class could stay awake through his lectures.

Very easy going but still thorough. Lots of handouts to clarify the readings. Do the homework, read the sections he assigns and listen to the lectures. A lot of work but its an easy A if you're willing to keep up. Took it for an 8 wk class...better for most as a full semester class.

He's very knowledgeable and can help you when you need it. Gives out enough extra credit to do well. Tests can be hard if you don't listen/attend, but the homework assignments (only 10, tedious) are a good grade cushion if you do them all. Tests also include essays to type beforehand, final was just a 4 page paper. Book is mandatory for homework.

Really relaxed professor. Lots of open discussion in class with students on various issues on the class subject. I actually couldnt afford this book for this class, still took the class and got a B. If you have the text, easy A. If not, look up Plato and Aristotle dialogues and youre set! One of my fav. professors at Grossmont.

This class was great. It was a good overview of the major philosophies. Class is beneficial if you do the reading along with it. Study guides are helpful. Tests are pretty easy. If you like philosophy and want to study it, take him. He definitely is a philosopher - his wardrobe is perfect. You'll see...

Grosse is awesome. If you're a philosophy student at grossmont then you should definitely take his classical mind before you move on to university. He is very professional and knowledgeable. Also very helpful. Very personable as well, I took his class two years ago and he basically made me become a philosophy major. I couldn't thank Grosse enough!

Very nice guy. Lots of "busy work" and reading, but doesn't grade too hard. Lectures are a bit dull and I often found myself losing track about what was being discussed, but I think part of it was that I wasn't terribly interested in some of the topics on which the class is based.
