He is SUPER enthusiastic about the material. He smiles the entire lecture and acts astonished as if it's the first time he's ever heard of the galaxy, which makes it fun to sit and take notes. He teaches at a high school too, so he is a busy guy but you would've never known with how energetic he is. It's a tough class, but work hard and you'll pass

I highly recommend you take this professor!! One of the best I ever had. Makes the class enjoyable, good storyteller, passionate/enthusiastic organized, helpful, funny, ... etc. You won't regret taking him!! Amazing, A++ teacher!

Prof. Detterline is an amazing person and an awesome teacher. I loved going to his class everyday, he makes class enjoyable with silly actvites and he really knows his stuff. He is a bit old fashion but he has a great passion for ast. and makes it fun for everyone. Top 3 best professors I have had in my 4 years at Ktown. TAKE HIME...

I am being perfectly honest when I say that this professor is one of the best I've ever had. He's really helpful and seems to have a real passion for Astronomy and teaching. His class is easy if you pay attention in lecture and read the book. Plus he posts helpful review animations and flashcards on D2L.

A completely useless professor as far as helping his students is concerned. He clearly does not comprehend what the word introductory means. His class was most definitely at a 300 level. Don't take him if you don't want a challenge.

I had Professor Detterline for my intro to astronomy class, and I have to say that I absolutely adored this man. He was so passionate and excited about the information he shared. I was always excited to go to class. I know its weird but he IS cute for someone his age :)

Okay Prof. He is more interested in entertaining you about the universe rather than teaching. I didn't really learn anything, just pushed my way through and got a B. One of the better Ast. Prof's, but definitely take him for lab if yout take him for lecture. If he knows your name, you're golden.

His tests are extremely difficult because of how he words things, and they are nothing like the sample test he provides as a study guide. He relies too heavily on the book, which is difficult to comprehend.If you are not that interested in math, do not take astronomy. It's not that easy unless you are a space/science nerd.

He's a pretty good professor. Definitely enthusiastic about the material which makes class interesting. Do yourself a favor and buy the book because a good moajority of the test questions come from there. If you can, take him for lab too because it's an easy A. And enjoy those kickass stories!

Hard but rewarding class. He's very into astronomy, a true professional if I ever saw one. His lectures are lively, and rarely boring. And oh yeah - he's hot. Lanky, nerdy, balding and all, yet he's sexy. You'll be thinking about that lispy voice of his whispering into your ear about the curves of Andromeda under the clear night sky.

Detterline is my most favorite professor I have ever had! He is very clear with his lectures, and he makes you want to pay attention. You're going to need the book, because his test questions are both from the book and his lectures. Don't bother buying scantrons, because he buys them for you (another reason why he's cool). He's the same in lab too!
