Photo2 - digital documentary using flash. Be prepared to think of a semester long project documenting something. Use the flash, take lots of pictures, photograph every week, edit them before showing, and take his feed back. Lab has flash units you can borrow so do not feel as if you need to go out and buy one. The book was used for one quiz.

PHOTO 1: This course is challenging. You will learn a lot and will feel accomplished leaving this course but please know that 1. You will spend $150-300 on materials (film, printing paper, etc.) 2. The test is very hard. When he says something is on the test during lecture IT IS. Read the text book along with his lecture and study LOTS before!

If you aren't ready to work your tail off, don't take his HOP class. He's a great guy but speeds through the slides, assigns loads of reading, and you are only graded on three different tests in this class so if you fail a test, it is hard to recover. You will be able to identify numerous photos and photographers by the end of the class though.

If you can try not to take this class. He isn't the best teacher. He might know a lot of photographers but he goes way to fast while taking notes. HOP is an interesting class but its a lot of information and a lot of studying. There is only 3 test and the last one is the final. Lastly get ready to go to 3 museums and spend a lot of money.

If you don't go to class you won't pass. Hist. of Photo covers a LOT and he goes pretty fast. Take good notes on the computer and study flashcards of the photos. If you don't read the textbooks you'll bomb the tests. People whine about doing poorly but don't study well enough. It's tough, but you really do learn a ton in this class.

If you are a comm. student, you MUST take Photo 1 with Peter. He learned photography from the masters. He will teach you to do everything the right way, the traditional way, with 35mm cameras. He will push you to your max capability. There is no class I've taken that is so hands-on, so useful, besides his class and Rob Carr's classes. TAKE THIS!

Peter is a really nice guy if you don't make him mad. If you try and do your work, he'll appreciate the work you put into your work. It's an amazing opportunity to study under him and if you are looking into the Photo track, you'll enjoy. I've learned so much from him since I started going here. Such a good guy!

Peter is the coolest hippie dude around. He isn't as scary as people make him seem, nor are his crits bad. If you have heard the rumor he wants to poison students, its true. He enjoys putting chemicals in his mouth, but don't worry. Coe won't let him MAKE YOU DO IT. It is purely optional. I've put a few in my mouth and I didn't die.

Peter is so a hippie dude. He goes off on random things during random sentances. He isn't scarey and isn't trying to poison you, he just wants you to taste chemicals. Show up to class, try, and you will do fine. Coe will save you if your scared. But Peter is the coolest dude around.

Class with Peter is like boot camp. He will destroy your morale but work hard and you will be much, much better for it. Show interest in the work, be honest and don't putz around. After a few semesters photo students bond under the stress, but come out better on the other side.

Peter is an amazing prof! He'll make you work hard, but if you stick to it, try your best, and SHOW INTEREST AND A PRIORITY IN THE CLASS than he'll help you in any way you need. He'll make you see your work and others' in a new light and was truly amazing to have teach. Lectures can be confusing, READ THE BOOK FOR THE TEST! Ask him for any help

He runs the best photography program on this side of the mississippi; probably on this side of the rockies, as well. It's a very prestigious program to finish. He is absolutely the best professor at this school. He teaches for the right reasons and likes everyone as an individual no matter their work/photography skills!

Very difficult. Time-consuming. Stressful. Information seems to be given on a need-to-know basis - you will not know what you've done wrong until you've recieved a bad grade on it already. You have to defend your work fiercly, you have to argue with him. Get help from Coe!

Very talented and knowledgeable professor. First semester is the most painful in terms of criticism, but when you learn to not take the crits as personal you will find you have much more fun in his classes in addition to learning a great deal more about the subject. He has helped me to develop my knowledge and passion for photography. A+
