The material was easy to learn but his exams are worded weird and includes many things we do not go in-depth about. I studied for hours and still got C's on exams. Does not curve. Quizzes EVERY single class. Lots of extra credit opportunities. No textbook needed because power point covers everything. Doesn't really teach, just reads off slide.

Dr. Hertzler is such an awesome professor. I had him for cell biology and he offers so much extra credit opportunities. He's quite funny and he knows what he is talking about. Would 10/10 recommend him. Tests can be pretty hard, but if you come to class, it should be nbd.

He tends to explain things fast. This class combines biochem, organic chem and microbiology topics. So it's very helpful if you take those classes first. 2-point quizzes on days wo homework due or exams, but he does give bonus points on exams and quizzes. You have to work to earn your grade, but he cares about his students doing well.

Dr. H is the bomb .com. It's obvious that developmentembryology is his field of expertise because he loves teaching the course and makes lecture interactive. He tests for comprehension, not memorization (as he should) but tests are more than fair because he gives a very accurate study guide. Learning is your choice.

Took this class as a 3-week summer course. word of advice, don't take it unless it's a semester long course. Dr. H is super nice, but he expected way too much from us in such a short amount of time. Tests were all short answer, multiple choice quizzes every day with a few hw assignments. He curves though so that definitely helps. Still a good prof

Dr. Hertzler is a good guy. Maybe he wasn't good at teaching big classes (I see people didn't like him for cell bio) but my class was about 12 people and I think he was fine at teaching! We had one written exam, I didn't do that great on it and I still got an A in the class. I would recommend this class (Confocal Microscopy) with him.

if you have taken mamm phy or bio tech before, it will be a lot helpful, if not, have to work a little harder, prof is good and teaches u what exactly you need to know... cracks jokes rarely, but are funny..

I really enjoyed this class. He makes it easy and tells you exactly what you need to know for exams and explains everything well. The exams weren't too hard, just make sure to know the slides. I would recommend taking him.

He's a little difficult, both to warm up to and in his teaching. But after a while one get's the hang of his style and at the end of the semester he gets lenient as far as dropping scores and assignments.

This class is very hard with Dr. H. He doesn't cover the material very well and expects you to memorize it all. Tests are unbearable even if you study for a week before the exam. He has an exam the Friday before spring break and doesn't give exceptions so don't plan of leaving until Friday afternoon. Get the other teacher...he is much easier.

Dr. H is a cool guy. Hes kinda goofy but he knows what hes talking about. His tests can be a lil tough and sometimes he doesn't give you enough time, but he'll make up for it. He let us drop our lowest test grade after not giving us enough time on an exam. Also, hes very lenient with due dates.

Very much a good person deserving respect for character and dignity, but a very difficult for me as far as coursework and tests are concerned. But the amount of academics in these courses and others was helpful for me in determining the course in my life and just how much I am not cut out for this.

No lab for this class but you'll wish there was so something can help out your grade. Tests are VERY unclear and wordy and there is a quiz EVERY day (they don't help your grade either). No extra credit, so keep up! If you have to take him make sure you study for ALL the daily quizzes and memorize/understand online notes very well!
