He's very knowledgeable about the topic and really expects you to produce quality work. Compared to other studio classes the work load is manageable, the people complaining he expects you to spend outside time in the studio have obviously never taken one before. If you are bad at taking feedback don't take his class, he won't sugar-coat his opinion

Very rude and arrogant. He will talk down on and constantly insult your work. He will never compliment a student even if they created a piece exactly how he asked.. This class takes hard work and dedication, plus additional hours outside of class so if you want to take this just for fun, good luck.

This guy is the worst professor I've ever had. He was the metals teacher and I had to take him for 4 semesters and he totally killed my passion for the craft. Not one word of encouragement in 2 years. Do not take him! He will belittle you and make you feel like crap all in the name of pushing you forward. Change your major if you're in metals.

Worst experience ever! I actually loved the medium and working with the clay, but he expects perfect work even though we were only a level one class, and even if you do what he says, he still tears into you and says its garbage even if the rest of the class likes your work. Not worth the extra 10-15 hours a week studio time for the low B grades

I always got A's from his class for the most part. I however also lived in the studio not because it was expected of me but because i wanted to. He's not very understanding.he's to busy running off during class time. He can be a jerk, Believe me I know. however, if you work hard and put effect u will pass with a good grade. Hard to get extra help.

If you're not an art major don't take this class. He is not understanding of the workload of the average college student. He doesn't care if art isnt your major, he expects you to spend all your free time in the studio (as if free time exists in college). he doesn't grade fairly - only based on his personal preferences. Terrible teacher.

Preston will make you work for your grade, and if you don;t like the subject you won't enjoy the class. The medium eats time and you are given fair warning of that. He may wander off during class though is always willing to help a student even out of class if you just ask. Hes really not as bad as he is made out to be.

Preston is amazing! I don't understand how people can say that he was rude or un helpful!? He's just not going to do the work for you, and doesn't give much feed back because he wants you to figure it out yourself! However if you ask the right questions, he is very helpful! This is college guys, stop expecting your teacher to hold your hand!

He can be intimidating and he doesn't get personal. Kind of seems like he doesn't really care about the subject (metals). Def more into pottery. But you get out of it what you put into it. If you show your interest and work hard, you should do okay. Up to you to get all the work done. I asked a million questions and he answered them. He's okay.

Not worth the time and deication to the craft to take this guy. so not hot, should not be a consideration either. I worked my butt off and he never helped me out because he had no clue about my work. if you kiss his butt you will do fine. he's very cold and so unfriendly.

I have taken this guy for many semesters. I did very well during that time. However, I do not recommend students to take his class. He never gave me any positive feed back. I had to pull teeth to learn anything. Not a person to give info and very cold. He favored a few, not me thats for sure. he was a joked to say it !!!

You will either like or hate him. He is very hard to work with even if you bring all youve got into what you do. Half the time I have no clue has to what he is trying to talk about. hardly anyone stays to go to his upper levels.
