Social Interaction is a great class. Prof. Schwartz comes off strong but you get use to it. He has very high expectations you his students. He doesn't have an email. If you want to talk to him you have to call and make an appointment. Only 4 exams. No cumulative final.

He has some extremely annoying speech habits. I spent more time tallying them up than taking notes. In one class, his lecture was punctuated with "See" 94 times, "obviously" 42 times, "etc., i.e., or e.g." 22x, "curious/fascinating/intriguing" 29x, and words repeated for emphasis 20 times. All in a 63 minute period!!

DON'T buy the textbook! All you do is watch movies and talk about the movies and things in the news. Your grade is based on ONE paper! Even though it's one paper, he is completely helpful if you schedule an appointment with him and talk about it. DON'T take this class if you can't write a good research paper.

His lectures are unorganized and there is no need to show up because he talks about the same thing for days at a time. His handwriting is incomprehensible, His test questions are taken from anywhere so you have to study book hardcore. He is rude, and doesn't answer questions.

I thought he was difficult, but nice. He grades his class off of 4 Exams. Attendance isn't required but he takes it and if you do poorly on something he'll bump the grade up because he knows you take the time to come to class. No homework & Is kind of funny. Willing to help by appointment. He's more patient & flexible with you if you go to class. :)

Would not recommend him to anyone. Your entire grade is based off of ONE paper which is essay a.k.a. HIS JUDGMENT at face value.. aka you better be on his good side. He treats students horribly!"Absolutely ridiculous, see.. get out of my class!" If you miss one class he will fail you. We are adults now; don't treat us like children.

Appears as tho he enjoys amping up himself by putting others down. Must be some sort of displacement d/t his lack of teaching skills. Cannot hear, cannot write legibly, and cannot teach. Watched videos practically EVERY class period; waste of time and money. Bought a book just to be told we wont have any tests. Learned nothing!

There are only 200 points offered in his class and he gives out no extra credit whatsoever. Reading the textbook is an absolute must! He is hard of hearing so its difficult to ask him questions. Tests are very hard unless you take very good notes every class and while reading the book. I would not recommend taking him!

He talks fast. Repeats examples. Reading the book is a requirement. Tests are based off of the book material. If you have a concern he will not slow down his thinking process to understand you--so don't ask! Participation does not count in the grade but he will fail you if you dont go. Would not recommend this professor!

His accent and vocabulary make him a very unique professor at Winona State.. reminds me of a very wealthy scholar sitting infront of his fireplace smoking a pipe.. "Marvelous!" "Superb" This does make him a bit harder to understand for the first day or two. He has a GREAT sense of humor though. If you can, take one of his classes. My first legit A.

At first I hated this guy. As the semester went on, I found myself laughing at his jokes and really listening to what he said. Doesn't really teach much in this class -- we literally watched a movie in class 75% of the time. There's no textbook, and no tests. He takes attendance. We had to write one huge paper that determined our grade. Easy!

Schwartz is an extremely intelligent man, and he doesn't spew liberal propaganda like many professors here. He expects professionalism and rationality from his students, and has little tolerance for anything less. HINT: You are NOT in high school anymore: go to class, read the book, listen to lecture and you'll do fine. A breath of fresh air!

He will probably freak you out the first 2 days. He might be mean and he talks very fast and with an accent. After those first 2 classes, he's amazing. You get used to the way he speaks, and he is SO FUNNY and iterested in what he says that you get caught up. He understands if you have a problem or can't make it to class... He's great!

You must buy the book and READ it! Attendence is a must! He takes daily attendence. At first I was overwhelmed with trying to take notes because he talked SO fast. I got used to that eventually. All in all this class is easy if you are in class, read the book, and take good lecture notes!!

At first I did not like Schwartz at all, he talks down to his students and kind of makes you feel stupid, but I think it is just a scare tactic to get you do try your hardest. He cancelled 4 tests including the final. I wouldnt recamend this class to anyone who is not a strong writer, or who isnt willing to go to the writing lab.

What a disaster. This entire grade is based off ONE research paper. Turns out that my paper was not what he was looking for. I didn't even like the topic I researched but he didnt accept my other proposals. I'll get a C and I deserved at least a B for the amount of time spent on that paper. And I thought I did well on it. AVOID him.

instructor rarely discusses the topic of the class, family roles and relationship. He spends most of his time talking down to us telling us how almost no one is good enough to be in the class. His focus is preparing you for grad school and making your papers publishable. He is very disrepectful to the students, very difficult grader.........

The instructor is very knowledgeable and educated, but does a very bad job at presenting the information. It tends to be fairly unclear what his course outline and objectives are. I am normally a straight A student, but have been struggling through his class because of his lack of clarity. He grades students at a Doctrites level. Tough grader..
